RE OBITURRIES From Page 1-A served at the Bureau of Naval Personnel and the Navy Military Personnel Command as Assignment Of- ficer for the recently established Special Opera- tions officer community. Prior to assuming duties at Naval School, Commander Blanton completed a tour in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations (Surface Warfare) where he served as the program sponsor for Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Also surviving are his brother, Dr. Charles Dewitt Blanton, Jr. of Athens, Ga., and two sisters, Rebecca Early of Shelby and Sybil Stringfellow of Kings Moun- tain. Memorials may be made to E.O0.D. Scholarship Fund, In- dian Head, Md. MRS. MINNIE DAVIS Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lovelace Davis, 87 of Route 2, who died May 30th at 2:30 p.m. at home, were cond- ucted Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Bruce Hancock and Rev. Russell Hinton of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was widow of Garmon Davis and daughter of the late Perry and Malissa Jolly Lovelace. Surviving are four sons, Franklin and Norman Davis, both of Kings Mountain Herschel Davis of Elizabeth City and Glenn Davis of Grover; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Grigg and Mrs. Rachel Costner, both of Cher- ryville, Mrs. FAiry Lee Cof- fey of Oxford, Mrs. Sylvia Grigg, Mrs. Eunice Horn and Mrs. Mozelle Justice, all of Kings Mountain; one brother, Oscar Lovelace of Kings Mountain; one sister, Mrs. Eldee Alexander of Kings Mountain; 51 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren and five great-great grand- children. EMMA B. BOWEN Emma Lynch Breakfield Bowen, 76, 206 Thornburg Drive died Thursday in Kings Mountain Hospital. She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late John and Nancy Hudson Lynch and a retired textile worker. Survivors include three sons, William Breakfield of Dallas, Reginald Breakfield and Daniel Bowen of Kings Mountain; six daughters, Myrtle Breakfield of Hig- ganum, Conn., Florence Sipe, Hazel Lewis, Betty Barnett, Alice Rote and Sue Nance of Kings Mountain; stepson, Earl Bowen of Bessemer Ci- ty; stepdaughter, Angel Bowen of Dallas; brother, Woodrow Lynch of Bessemer City; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Oscar Stalcup at 2 p.m. Sunday at Foursquare Gospel Church. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. ALICE ROSS Alice Boyce Ross, 75, of 1318 Northwood Drive, died Wednesday morning at Kings Mountain Hospital. A Cleveland County native, she was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she served as a past presi- dent of the Deaconess Board, secretary of the Eva Hopper Missionary Circle and a member of the Gospel Choir. She was a member of the Ada Chapter No. 7 Order of the Eastern Star. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Estelle Robinson Boyce. Surviving are her husband, John Ross; two sons, John L. EAKER Funeral services for John Wesley Eaker, 94, of Shelby, formerly of Route 1, Cher- ryville, were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from New Hope Baptist Church of Earl, interment following in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Eaker died Monday morning in the Cleveland Memorial Hospital after three weeks illness. He was a retired farmer and son of the late Jesse and Catherine Hubbard Eaker. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Hester Bingham McSwain Eaker; two sons, Dwight D. Eaker of Crouse and Quentin L. Eaker of Cherryville; three daughters, Mrs. Ken- neth Howell of Cherryville, Mrs. Dan Harrelson of Statesville and Mrs. Ray Sain of Lincolnton; three stepsons, W. Lawrence McSwain of Modesto, Calif., Dr. T.L. McSwain of Augusta, Ga. and Wade R. McSwain of Jackson, Ky. 12 grand- children, 13 step- grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren. WINNIE MARTIN Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Davis Martin, 80, of 1135 Blueberry Lane, Charlotte, who died Sunday morning at 3:15 a.m. in Gaston Memorial Hospital, were conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home. Elder E.H. Simpson of- ficiated and graveside ser- vices and burial was held at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville. Mrs. Martin was owner of Martin Construction Com- pany and was widow of Dante Martin.
