Duckpin
Bowling
Underway
Duckpin bowling league ac-
tion got underway during the
past week with competition
on Thursday and Tuesday
nights at Dilling Heating.
Last Thursday night, Bob-
by Rathbone and Joann’s
each won three games to take
the early lead. Rathbone
defeated Johnn Reavis and
Joann’s whipped Margaret's.
Allen Myers rolled a 151
line and 357 set to lead
Joann’s over Margaret's.
Steve Lail led the losers with
116-313.
Betty Hullender rolled a 163
line and 390 set and Ronnie
Scruggs added a 129-380 to
lead Rathbone over Reavis.
Johnny Reavis had a 144-355
and Linda Neely added a
129-341 for the losers.
In action last night, Lib
Gault’s team won three
games from R.W. Hullender
and John Dilling won three
from Betty Hullender.
Mrs. Gault rolled a 120 line
and 334 set to lead her team to
victory. R.W. Hullender’s 104
line and 288 set led the losers.
John Dilling’s 125 line and
365 set was the best for his
team. Betty Hullender led the
Isoers with a 147-346.
then the varsity lost 7-15, 15-7
and 15-13. Regina Brown led
the KM scoring with 12
points.
“Chris Shelby had a good,
aggressive game for us but it
was not enough to beat a good
East Rutherford team,’’
Coach Briges said. ‘‘Our poor
setting would not allow us to
take the ball on offense.’
Monday against North
Gaston at the KMHS gym, the
Mountainettes’ B team won
15-5, 10-15 and 15-10, and then
the varsity won 15-5 and 15-1.
Tonya Ballew led the KM
scoring with 15 points and
several other girls had big
games.
“We never made an attack
on offense because of the dif-
ficulty North Gaston had with
our serves,” Bridges noted.
*
Chris Shelby was selected
as KM’s Player of the Week
following big games in both
SWC outings.
‘She has been having a
good season thus far,”
Bridges said. ‘‘She’s a very
consistent server and a
strong defensive player. Her
hustle allowed us to stay alive
despite the loss to East
Rutherford. With continued
improvement, Chris should
become one of the best defen-
sive players in the con-
ference.”
