People from all over the United States attend to hear some of the best gospel singers in the business. Another highlight of the week is “The Singing News” fans awards night on Thursday night when the top gospel music entertainers are honored. Among the celebrities at- tending this year’s conven- tion was country music star Larry Gatlin, who is a born- again Christian and a big gospel music fan. ‘He didn’t perform,” Bedsole noted. “He came solely to hear the good gospel singing.” Surprise visitors on Satur- day night were Bill and Gloria Gaither, popular gospel musicians and song writers, and their New Gaither Band. “At least for one week, gospel music was alive and well in Nashville,” Bedsole said.
