Scheduled
Eastridge Mall in Gastonia
will host the new ABC-TV
Family Fun Fair, October
17-19.
The ABC Family Fun Fair
features cartoon stars from
ABC-TV’s Saturday morning
fall line-up. Squire D.
Rushnell, Vice President,
Long-Range Planning and
Children’s Television, ABC
Entertainment, said, ‘The
stars of ABC’s Saturday mor-
ning animated series will
come to life as beautifully
costumed, life-sized am-
bassadors in this second an-
nual Family Fun Fair ex-
hibit. This travelling show
will feature some of the most
recognizable and popular
children’s characters in
America today. And, the in-
teraction of audience and live
performers is guaranteed to
make the appearances ex-
citing and memorable.”
The schedule for
showtimes are Friday and
Saturday-11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3
pm. 5 pm. and 7 p.m;
Sunday- 1 pm., 2 p.m., 3
p.m., 4p.m. and 5 p.m.
Daily highlight of tne three-
day event is a free musical
review with a giant. ABC-TV
setting on center stage at the
mall. ABC superstars Bugs
Bunny and Sylvester from
“The Bugs Bunny and Twee-
ty Show’ will be featured in
the show along with Princess
Kneesa from ‘The All New
Ewoks;’’ Cooler from
‘Pound Puppies;’’ ‘‘The
Care Bears Family” stars in-
cluding Cheer Bear, Fun-
shine and Brave Heart; some
of ‘“The Real Ghostbusters;”’
little Fred from ‘“The Flint-
stone Kids;”’ and David the
Racoon from the upcoming
ABC Children’s Television
special ‘Kingdom Chums.”
The stage show is just part
of the fun. Between shows,
the life-sized costumed
characters will make special
mall appearances to greet
the children and pose for pic-
tures.

mall will provide activities
for children during regular
mall hours. At the ABC Fami-
ly Fun Fair’s Care Bear
Roller Coaster Display,
children will activate a story
in lightbox settings. Nearby,
a 7-monitor carousel display
offers previews of ABC-TV’s
Saturday morning fall
children’s line-up.
Children may play video
games at Nintendo’s Family
Entertainment units. Star of
the Nintendo center is
R.0.B., Robotic Operating
Buddy, the world’s only in-
teractive video robot plus the
Zapper light-sensing video
gun and a variety of exciting
game software.

faces is really just what ABC
Children’s Television is all

Wins Title
Chastity Diane Moss,
daughter of Mickey and Lin-
da Moss of Kings Mountain,
is the “1986 National Little
Miss’ United States Beauty
Pageant winner.
Chastity also was chosen
Miss Photogenic and was
first runner-up in the talent
division.
Contestants are judged on
beauty, poise, personality,
modeling ability, and in even-
ing gowns and sportswear
outfits. Chastity received five
feet trophies, a bucket crown,
velvet robes and a new televi-
* sion set for her effort.

Cherokees Publish Catalog
The Cherokee’s have pro-
duced their first mail order
catalog featuring over 150
original art and craft items
for sale to the general public.
The catalog is produced by
the Qualla Arts and Crafts
Mutual, Inc. which is a non-
profit organization whose
membership is made up of
over 400 Indian artists,
sculptors, wood carvers,
basketweavers and other
highly skilled Indian craft-
spersons.
The purpose of the Qualla
organization is to provide
employment for the Cherokee
Indians and to preserve their
ancient art and craft skills
for future generations.
“This is the first time since
our organization began in

1946 that we have offered to
the public a catalog,” said
Betty Dupree, Manager of
the Qualla Arts and Craft
Mutual. ‘“This new catalog
showcases the very culture of
the Cherokee Indian Nation
through the work of our
highly skilled Indian artists
and craftpersons.’’
According to Dupree all
items are handmade and are
one-of-a-kind. ‘“We are very
proud of the work, it is our
finest!”
The catalog features hand-
made basketry, pottery,
stone carvings, beadwork,
stone tomahawks, river cane
arrows, and other items uni-
que to the culture of the
Cherokee Indian.
The new catalog also

work is shown. ;
“The catalog is so in-
teresting that it is almost a
work of art in itself,” said
Dupree.
