DANCE FEVER WINNERS—Teachers Lynn Ledford and John Pettus are pictured above SAN during their winning dance and song at Friday’s Dance Fever contest at Central School. Dance Fever Contest Held Hundreds of Central School students were treated to a “Dance Fever” contest Fri- day afternoon in the Central gym. Groups made up of Central teachers entertained the students. Contest winners were Lynn Ledford and John Pettus, who performed a Janes and sonce from the six- ies. Candy Sale Big Success At Junior High School BY RIVERS SMITH Fund-Raising time is com- ing to a close at the junior high. It seems that the candy sales were a big success. Thanks to all who helped us out! The student council is hav- ing a dance. It is to be held November 10 and is open to all junior high students. The J.V. football team got its first win. It was over R-S Central. The Beta Club is going to take in new members after the six weeks grading period. Junior High girls on the high school tennis team were thrown their first loss by Shelby. In that match, Ashley McGinnis injured her leg and will not be able to play for a while. In their next match the girls were defeated by North Gaston. SHUFORD District Attorney Gov. Martin congratulates Marty Shuford on job well done. Gov. Jim Martin’s First Judicial Appointment Served effectively as DA since Feb. 85. The judges were Philip Ellison, Aaron Hayes, Jen- nifer Bradley, Leigh Anne Stewart and Lakeysha Lockhart. All of these students have been selected “Student of the Week’’ during the 1986-87 school year. All students who did not break a school rule during the first six weeks grading period attended. There will be similar rewards throughout the school year. This is an at- tempt by the faculty to reward and reinforce students’ positive behavior.
