Deaton ran the ball well and Reid and Brian Dellinger did a good job catching the football. “Scott Belcher and Reggie Gamble did a good job on defense for us,” Bolton add- ed. “But, it boiled down to the fact that when we had to hold them, we couldn’t. They got the ball back with three minutes to play and had to score two touchdowns to win, and they did it.” Looking back over the season, though, Bolton said REGINA BROWN Brown SWC Volleyball Player Of The Year Kings Mountain High plac- ed three players on the All- Southwestern 3-A Conference volleyball team which was announced today. Leading the list is senior standout Regina Brown, who was voted Player of the Year. Kings Mountain’s Diana Bridges was Coach of the Year for the second straight season. She averaged four down spikes per game and was accurate on over 95 per- cent of her serves. “She is a good all-around player,’”’ noted Coach Bridges. ‘‘She is very strong on the fundamentals and is being recruited by several Division One colleges.” Boheler, a junior, was nam- ed All-SWC for the second Jayvees Lose To Wildcats, Finish Season With 1-8 Mark he wasn’t disappointed with the team’s effort. He started several ninth graders. “There were a lot of games we should have won, but inex- perience hurt us,” he said. ‘‘We should have a heck of a team next year. We have some good athletes coming back and asome good athletes coming up from the junior high program. We ap- preaciate the support we got from the community and my assistant coaches did a real fine job. The team really came a long way from the first two weeks of practice. We took our lumps this year but it will pay off next year.” CHRIS SHELBY JENNIFER BOHELER straight season.
