Second Baptist Church at 102 Linwood Road was hit by thieves last Tuesday night who took $3,750 worth of goods, including a mimeograph machine, pencil Automobile Accidents Reported Five automobile accidents occurred in the area during the weekend, police reported. Fay McInnes, 916 Second St.,operating a 1973 Chevrolet on North Piedmont at Fair- view St.,struck a 1973 Ford operated by Charles Barnette, of Blanton St., do- ing $750 damage to his car and $200 to her vehicle. A 1972 Dodge operated by Roy Hollifield, 406 Cherry St., was damaged $300 by an unknown driver who ran the stoplight on York Road at, Gold St. Another accident involving a hit-and-run driver occurred in the parking lot at Kings Mountain Senior High School. Charles Neill’s 1984 Chevrolet was struck in the parking lot and damaged $400. Cars operated by Betty Jo Wilson of Shelby and Christopher Stanley of Clover,S.C. were involved in an accident on East King Street. Ms. Wilson had stop- ped to let a pssenger out when the other car came over the hill. The 1973 Pontiac operated by Stanley was damaged $600 and the Wilson 1982 Ford was damaged $1500.Four people were treated for injuries. Restaurant Employee Is Robbed An employee of the Kings Mountain Wiener King was robbed behind the restaurant Friday night, according to Kings Mountain Police. According to Kings Moun- tain Patrolman Raymond Garris, Allen Welch said he had gone to the bank to deposit some money but had forgotten his key. When he returned to the business to get the key, a man stepped in front of him and told him to toss him the money or he would shoot. The suspect reportedly fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police. Safety Poster Deadline January 12 The deadline for entries in this year’s traffic safety poster contest sponsored by the AAA Carolina Motor Club is January 12, according to club president Ralph Peters. The contest is open to elementary and high school students in the Carolinas, a. offers more than $1,800 in savings bonds to winning students and instructors. After the Carolinas contest is held, all posters are for- warded to the American Automobile Association for judging in the national finals, where more than $13,000 will be awarded winners. Road was broken into Nov.26th and a stereo playuer, coffee maker and Coleman cooler stolen.The items were valued at $300. James Grigg, Route 3, reported that vandals threw rocks and broke the wind- shield from his car. Kay Leftwich, 404 E. Parker St., reported that money was stolen from her residence and Kings Moun- tain Junior High officials reported that three trailers were broken into and a radio removed from one. Lena Brown, No.84 Pine Manor, reported that her front door was damaged. Michael Smith, 917 Church St., reported that someone let the air out of his tires and eg- ged the vehicle.
