Twins Club Forming In KM To The Editor: I am writing you to inform you of a newly formed club in the Kings Mountain area. The Kings Mountain Mothers Of Twins Club. Each year in the United States, 33,000 sets of twins are born. Twins occur once in 90 9,300 births, quadruplets onc births, triplets occur once in ¢ in 490,000 births and quin- tuplets once in 55,000,000 births. There are two types of twins: monozygotic (MZ) or identical, one-egg twins and dizygotic (DZ) or frternal, two-egg twin s. The tendency to bear frater- nal twins may be inherited from either side of the family. Fraternal twins result from two fertilized eggs and are not necessarily any more alike than any two singletons born to the same parents. They may or may not be the same sex. However, identical twins result when a single fertilized egg splits after conception. These twins are genetically alike. Identical twinning is a biological phenomenon and the in- cidence remains fairly constant throughout the world. Many parents of twins (or more!) have special problems and nee that comes from having two babies of the same age. They need a place to turn to for help, advice, guidance and friendship that can only same experiences. Thus, the Twins Club was founded.
