The City of Kings Moun- tain, which purchases elec- tricity and sells it retail to its customers, has for years followed a policy of matching Duke Power rate increases. Acting City Clerk Judy Har- mon said today that the city will also follow Duke’s rate reduction and institute a reduction for city customers, effective Jan. 1, which will be reflected on the February billing. The savings to customers Carolina and South Carolina. “This represents our first step in implementing the new tax legislation,” Donald H. Deaton, Duke Power’s vice president-marketing and rates, said today. “At least for the next term, the Tax Reform Act lowers our cost of doing business, and we are passing this reduction along to our customers,” Denton said. “The legislation will be fully implemented in 1988, and we will be evaluating its impact on our cost of providing ser- vice.” Duke’s last rate increase took effect Oct. 31.
