Farris of Kings Mountain, has been named a United States Na- tional Award winner in band by the U. S. Achievement Academy. He will be recognized in the official yearbook published nationally. KIWANIS CLUB Kings Mountain High foot- ‘ball coach Denny Hicks will present the program at Thursday night’s meeting of the Kings Mountain Kiwanis Club. John Pettus, sponsor of Central School’s Student Council Drug Abuse and Prevention Program, will lead the program on Thurs., Jan. 22. This award carries with it a $5000 National Science Foun- dation grant, in addition to other honors and gifts. To be eligible, a teacher must be assigned during this school year at least half-time to classroom teaching of science or mathematics in a public or private middle/- junior or senior high school in North Carolina. Teachers must also have a minimum of five years teaching ex- perience in science or mathematics.
