Phyllis Fujita is leader of the troop. Bloodmobile Big Success The Cleveland County Red Cross bloodmobile visit to Kings Mountain’s First Bap- tist Church last Tuesday net- ted 143 units of blood. According to the Red Cross, 137 donors were pre- sent, including first-time donors Michelle Smith, Christine Shelby, Tammy Terry, Annette Webster, Joseph Hamrick Jr., Willard Yarborough, Juanita Blan- ton, Annette Grteene, Jerry Mayes and Mary Greene. The visit was sponsored by the Kings Mountain City Employees. Assisting were members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 155 under the leader- ship of Phyllis Fujita. Girls baked cookies for the canteen and recruited donors. The following donors com- pleted gallon donations: One gallon - Cynthia Mor- ris, Elmer Wooten, Elizabeth Grigg, Launa McGill and Freda Sellers. Two gallons - Jessie Carroll and Terry Sellers. Five gallons - Lynne Mauney and David Hullender. Six gallons - Anne Pauchak. Vital Signs Classes Slated By Red Cross The Cleveland County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a Vital Signs Module I and II class at the Red Cross House on Sat., Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. These courses are designed to teach non-medical person- nel how to take and record a person’s temperature, pulse and respiration, and blood pressure. Persons com- pleting both modules are then certified to take pulse and blood pressurres int he donor beltline at area Red Cross Bloodmobiles. : The cost of the course is $10.68 which includes both books and materials. Anyone interested should call the Red Cross office (487-8594) to register. Enrollment will be limited to 10 participants. io td 1 A SSN” aon? BARBARA SHORT Barbara Short Finalist In U.S. Teen miss Barbara Lynn Short of Kings Mountain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Short, has been selected as a state finalist in the 1987 Miss North Carolina U.S. Teen Pageant. The announcement was made by Ron Simmons, State Director for the Miss North Carolina U.S. Teen Pageant. She is sponsored inthe pageant by Parkdale Mills. The Miss North Carolina U.S. Teen Pageant is the of- ficial state preliminary to the Miss U.S. Teen Pageant to be held n August 1987. Miss Pageant North Carolina U.S. Teen will receive a host of prizes in- cluding a cash award, a color ° portrait, jewelry, crown, ban- ner, trophy, and an all ex- pense-paid trip to the na- tional pageant. The Miss North Carolina U.S. Teen Pageant will be held in Greensboro at the Sheraton Hotel on March 14, 1987, at 8:00 P.M. The next bloodmobile visit to Kings Mountain will be at First Baptist Church on Thurs., March 5 from 12:30 until 6 p.m. The visit will be sponsored by Kings Mountain Hospital.
