The keynote speaker for this year’s DSA Presentation will be Jerry L. Wall, a past State President (1985-1986) of the North Carolina Jaycees. Wall joined the Yadkinville Jaycees in 1972, served two terms as their chapter’s Vice- President and in 1975 was elected President of the Yadkinville Jaycees. Since then he has held such state of- fices as District and Regional Directors, State Vice- President and State Presiden. While serving in state offices he received such awards as the ‘David Gaines Memorial Award’...as the most outstanding state of- ficer of the N.C. Jaycees, the “Dennis Hamilton Memorial Award”....as one of the top ten state officers in the United States Jaycees, and in 1985-1986 the ‘‘Clayton A. Frost Memorial Award”...as one of the top five State Presidents in the U.S. Clayton A. Frost, while Presi- dent of the N.C. Jaycees in 1946 came to Kings Mountain and chartered the K.M. Jaycee Chapter. On his return trip to Winston-Salem that night he was killed in an automobile accident in Mooresville. The U.S. Jaycees later decided that each years top five State Presidents would receive an award in memory of Clayton A. Frost. OBITURRIES GERTRUDE ROBERTSON Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Spencer Robertson, mother of Mrs. Larry (Evelyn) Hamrick of Kings Mountain, were held Monday at 2 p.m. from Hayes-Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh, interment following in Mountlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh. Mrs. Robertson died Thurs- day in the Kings Mountain Convalescent Center. She was a native of Lenoir County, daughter of the late John and Sebie Dunn Midyette. She was widow of Malcolm Robertson. Surviving, in addition to her daughter of Kings Moun- tain, are four sons, Walter Spencer of Stockton, Calif., Baxter Spencer of Port- smouth, Va., Richard Spencer of Carmel, Calif., and Graham Spencer of San- ford; a daughter, Alice Stone, of Couina, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Sedie Hubbard of Panama City, Fla., 17 grand- children and 34 great- grandchildren. She was a charter member of Hayes-Barton United Methodist Church, a charter member of Book Guild Club, member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, Daughters of American Revolution and Raleigh Women’s Club. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MRS. ETHEL P. HAYNES Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Primm Haynes, 87, of 505 Ellenwood Drive, who died Wednesday in the Kings Mountain Hospital, were con- ducted Friday at 3 p.m. from Harris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Spencer, inter- ment following in Gastonia’s Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Haynes was a native of Chilton County, Ala. widow of Robert Alexander Haynes and the daughter of the late James Jordan Calhoun and Martha Jane Miears Primm. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving are her son, Guy Fletcher ‘of Moncure; two stepdaughters, Ruby Moore of Dallas and Ruth Kingston of Hampton, Va., a sister, Alma Raybon of Clanton, Ala. ; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. EDNA MCKENZIE Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Ruth McKenzie, 76, of 1001 Michigan St., Kan- napolis, sister of Thomas L. Trott of Kings Mountain, were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home. Rev. William L.Downs of- ficiated and interment was in Franklin Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rowan County. Mrs. McKenzie was a native of Rowan County, daughter of the late Edgar Wadsworth Trott and Ruth Brinegar Trott. She ws a member of the Kannapolis Woman’s Club and Royal Oaks Baptist Church and a former member of St. James Episcopal Church before its merger with All Saints Episcopal in Concord. Prior to her retirement in 1975 she was employed by Belk Department Store of Charlotte. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Mr.and Mrs. Tom Trott of Kings Mountain and nieces and nephews, including her nephew, Scott Trott of Kan- napolis. ANDRE LITTLEJOHN Andre Littlejohn, 19, of 1501 Northwoods Dr., died Sunday at home. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and son of Harvey and Shirley Barnes Littlejohn. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Harvey Franklin Littlejohn of the home; grandparents, Mr.and Mrs. Charlie Barnes of Kings Mountain and Mr.and Mrs. William Little- john of Detroit, Michigan.
