OBITU MRS. CALDWELL Funeral services for Mrs. Lois Mullinax Caldwell, 74, of Meadowbrook Manor in Cherryville, who died Wednesday in the Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted at 2 p.m. Friday from Second Baptist Church. Rev. Eugene Land, Rev. Mitchell Pruitt and Rev. Glenn Caldwell officiated, and interment was in Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell was a native of Cherokee County, S.C., a retired textile employee and daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Wray Mullinax. Surviving are her husband, Noah Caldwell, a stepson, Er- vin Caldwell of Dallas; a daughter, Peggy Turner of Baltimore, Md., a brother, Ray Mullinax of Shelby; a sister, Reola Humphries of Blacksburg, S.C.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. BOYD WHITWORTH Funeral services for Boyd Whitworth, 73, of Route 3, who died Sunday in the Cleveland Memorial Hospital, will be conducted * Thursday at 4 p.m. from Mis- sionary Baptist Church of which he was a member. Rev.H. L. Rhedrick will of- ficiate and interment willl be in the church cemetery. Mr. Whitworth was a Cleveland County native, son of the late Donnie Oates and J. N. Whitworth and retired from Bost Bakery. Surviving is a grandson, Burney Roberts. L.J. ADAMS L. Rev. George Hawkins of- ficiated and interment was in Rogers Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born in Scotland County, son of Hugh Roswell and Fleda Faircloth Smith. He was employed by J. P. Stevens Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Pate Smith; one son, Timmy Smith of Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Cain of Kings Moun- tain and Mrs. Catherine Holland of Wagram; his parents; one brother, Harold Smith of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs. Pat Medlin of Wagram; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ricky Ikner, Jackie Leviner, Albert Willis, Garland Nobles, Bill Stubbs and Neil Shaw. CLAYDELL SPENCER Funeral services for Claydell Spencer, 60, of Route 1, who died Wednesday at home, were conducted Sun- day at 2:30 p.m. from Vestibule AME Zion Church, interment following in the church cemetery. Rev. Walter Adams of- ficiated. Mrs. Spencer was a member, associate pastor and Sunday School teacher at Vestibule Church. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie Fox Pat- terson. Surviving are her husband, Howard Spencer; and a sister, Eloise McClain of Gastonia. GONIE ADAMS Funeral sevices for Gonie Genell Adams, 76, of Route 1, who died Thursday in the Kings +" Meuntain Hospital,were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. from Galilee United Methodist Church of - Joachim Mittag, which she was a member. Rev. Dewey W. Smith of- ficiated and interment was in Adams Chapel church cemetery. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, she was the widow of Clyde Adams and daughter of the late Annie Lee Adams. She was president of the Senior Usher Board, a Sun- day School teacher, a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the N. C. S. C. Singing Convention at Galilee United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Clyde Adams, Jr. of Charlotte and Lawrence E. Adams of Kings Mountain; three brothers, James R.Adams and Samuel Adams of Kings Mountain and Kally Adams of Shelby; five sisters, Sadie McClain, Sue Frances Adams and Maggie Morgan of Kings Mountain and Mattie Barber of New York, and Hattie Nance of Charlotte; nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and 10 step- great-grandchildren. DICKIE HARTSELL Funeral services for Her- man Allen(Dickie) Hartsell, 50, who died Jan.16 in Gaston Memorial Hospital, were con- ducted Sunday afternoon from North Belmont Church of God, interment following in Gaston Memorial Park.
