Masters Jr., Robin Masters and Leann Masters. Mr. Masters owned and operated Masters Funeral Home on Shelby Road for a number of years after spen- ding his first 16 years in Kings Mountain as an employee of Harris Funeral Home. Ronnie Hawkins, co- manager at Harris Funeral Home, called him ‘‘one of the best funeral directors and embalmers Kings Mountain has ever had. He taught me a lot.” Masters was a Dean’s List student and graduate of Gup- ton Jones College of Mor- tuary Science in Dallas, Tex. He joined Harris Funeral Home in 1963 and left that firm in December of 1979. He opened Masters Funeral Home in March of 1980. Masters was active in church and community ser- vice. He served for a number of years as chaplain of the Kings Mountain Fire Depart- ment and Kings Mountain Rescue Squad, and was a member of Bethware Pro- gressive Club and other civic organizations. He had a weekend gospel music pro- gram on Radio Station WKMT for about 20 years. ROBERT CHANEY IRON STATION - Robert Howard Chaney, 64, of Iron Station, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Friday at his home. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at First Baptist Church in Stanley by the Rev. Milton Hollifield and the Rev. Eugene Land. Burial was in Hillcrest Gardens. Mr. Chaney was the son of the late Rev. Robert L. Chaney and Winnie Moss Chaney of Kings Mountain.
