Page 10B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Wednesday, February 25, 1987 Jerry McKee Is Appointed KMH Director Of Pharmacy Jerry McKee has been ap- pointed new director of the Kings Mountain Hospital pharmacy. His respon- sibilities include maintaining a state-of-the-art department with an extensive inventory of medications and some of the latest computerized medical equipment available, and directing three full time employees. The hospital pharmacy serves not only patients but employees also. TYLER MARK ALLEN Tyler Allen Two Years Old Tyler Mark Allen, who was two years old Tuesday, Feb.24, was honored with a Mickey Mouse party on Saturday. Forty friends and relatives were served hamburgers and hotdogs with all the trimm- ings. For dessert they cut a Mickey Mouse cake and en- joyed Mickey Mouse pop- sickles. The party was held in the Fellowship Hall of Allen Memorial Baptist Church where over 50 balloons and pictures of Mickey Mouse featured decorative details. Tyler is the son of Timmy and Dena Allen and grandson of Bill and Betty Allen and Dean and Judy Bowen, all of Grover. His great- grandparents ae C.E. and Charmie Allen of Grover and Ruth Bowen and Eva Barrett of Kings Mountain. Tyler’s great-great grandmothers are Mrs. Edna Bowen and Mrs. Corrie Allen, both of Kings Mountain. MISTY WELCH Misty Welch Three Years Old Misty Lashoy Welch, daughter of Kathy Welch of 135 McGinnis St., celebrated her third birthday recently with party refreshments of a ballerina birthday cake with family and friends. Misty has a little brother, Jonathan, age 8. She is the granddaughter of Faye Stewart of 135 McGinnis Street and great- granddaughter of Mr.and Mrs. Bill Foster of Kings Mountain and the late Georgia Welch. Chestnut Ridge To Sell Hotdogs Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a hotdog sale Sat., Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the fire department, ten on Chestnut Ridge Church Road off Highways 161 and 216 near Kings Mountain. Carryouts are available. All proceeds go to the fire department. For more information, call 629-4453. cL En i se A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, McKee was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in hospital pharmacy at UNC Chapel Hill. Prior to assuming his present position, McKee was a pharmacist at Broughton Hospital, Morganton. He is a member of the American Society of Hospital Phar- macists, the state society of hospital pharmacists and the state pharmaceutical association. He is a lifelong member of RHO-CHI phar- macy honorary fraternity and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Fallston. McKee and his wife, Tracey, have two children, ‘Erin, 20 months and Jacob, two months, and make their home in Shelby. Kings Mountain Hospital, located at 706 West King St.,employs 175 full and part- time employees and has 26 physicians, covering many major specialties, on the ac- tive medical staff. United Way Centennial Week Kings Mountain United Way, celebrating its 27th an- niversary this year, is par- ~ ticipating in United Way Centennial Week in North Carolina in United Way’s Centennial Year as proclaim- ed by Governor Jim Martin. The original eight directors of the local United Way were Sam H. Stallings, J.C. Bridges, Wesley Bush, R.S. Lennon, George H. Mauney, Grady K. Howard. W. Ben Grimes and Bob Maner. The 1987 campaign yielded a record $106,701 in pledges, exceeding its $105,000 goal. “It is because of continued support from both the public and private sector that Kings Mountain United Way shall remain strong and viable for years to come’, said United Way President Ted Kostek. Co-chairmen of the 1987 Ice On Bridge Ice on a bridge was blamed for a early morning wreck Monday morning at 7:12 a.m. on North Piedmont Avenue. City police said that Sandra Camp, of 106 Park St. Shelby, traveling North on Piedmont Avenue, had started across the bridge when her 1978 Mercury slid on ice and rammed into a guard rail, doing $900 damage to the car. In a second accident Mon- day, James Guffey, of Route 2, Bessemer City, operating a 1985 Isuzu which was damag- ed $5,000, struck a 1969 Buick operated by Barbara Sparks of 308 Westview St., Gastonia, which was damaged $700. A third accident on Monday occurred on Fairview Street. A 1972 Chevrolet, operated by David Camp, of route 2, struck a 1985 Pontiac operated by Jewel Bumgard- ner, 6025 Midpines, doing a total of $700 damage. Both drivers claimed the green light in a collision on Sunday on King Stret. A 1979 Dodge operated by Barbara McClain, 113 Tracy St., which was damaged $1000, and a 1979 Chevrolet, operated by Marcie Medford, of 305 S. Gaston St.,were involved in the crash. Marvin Chappell is secretary-treasurer. : Chairman of the 1988 cam- paign is Bill Davis and chair- man of the 1989 campaign is Bob McRae, new superinten- dent of KM Schools. Causes Wreck A 1979 Chrysler, which was damaged $800 and operated by Darlene Hunt, Route 9, Shelby, struck a 1981 Toyoto operated by James Huitt, Route 1, Gastonia, which was damaged $2500. A Shelby Schools activity bus operated by Norris Dwan Ross, of Shelby, struck a parked vehicle in the KMSHS parking lot Friday night. The parked vehicle was owned by Charles F. Mauney and was damaged $100. Damages to the bus amounted to $50. A hit and run driver pulled out in front of a 1979 VW on King Street Thursday caus- ing a wreck which resulted in $600 damage to the VW operated by Kimberly Gard- ner, Route 2. Johnny Johnston, of 212 East Parker St.,was travel- ing on Chestnut Street Wednesday when the steering on his 1975 Plymouth ‘became uncontrollable’’ and rammed a chainlink fence belonging to Steve Rathbone, No. 28 Bennett Drive.
