Tryouts for junior and var- sity cheerleaders for KMSHS football and basketball teams are set for April 16th at the high school with evening practices on April 13, 14 and 15, according to Director Kevin Plonk. Local cheerleader can- didates will also attend a workshop on Saturday to practice required cheers for tryouts and view a video on cheerleader basics. Mrs. Plonk said the past year was a successful and ex- citing year for local cheerleaders who advanced to the state playoffs. She said squad members work hard each year decorating players lockers, planning pep rallies, marching in parades, par- ticipating in fundraisers and cheering at ballgames. This year cheerleaders plan to at- tend camp at Clemson University in August. Cheerleaders were recogniz- ed recently by Mountaineer Restaurant when owners Dale and Libby Putnam treated the girls to a free din- ner and ice cream dessert. Cheerleaders recognized for their enthusiasm and spirit of the games were Paris Floyd, Heather Brad- wy TN Cheerleader Tryouts Slated shaw and Candace Brown. Paris Floyd is captain of the football squad of cheerleaders and Jennifer Becton is co-captain. Bobbie Byrd is captain of basketball squad cheerleaders and Sharon Green is co-captain. Other varsity members are Candace Bowen, Mary Ferebee, Misty Shockley, Heather Bradshaw, Sciandra Robinson, Viola Joy, Jenny Reid and Angela Redmond. It’s A Boy For Moffitts Mr. and Mrs. Steve Moffitt of Cherryville announce the birth of a son, Bradley Steven Moffitt, March 21, Gaston Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed 10 pounds, one half ounce, and is 21% inches long. Grandparents are Mr. and Childers was honored Sunday afternoon at a drop-in bridal party at the home of Mrs. Jackie Hughes in the Dixon Community. Sharing hostess duties with Mrs. Hughes were Mrs. Graham Wood, Mrs. Robert Childers, Mrs. Tom Berry, Mrs. Gary Stewart, and Mrs. Bobby Childers. The 40 guests, who called from 3 until 5 p.m. showered the bride-elect with miscellaneous household gifts. Refreshments, carrying out a green and white bridal theme, featured decorative details. The gift table in the living room, overlaid with green cloth over lace, was centered with wedding bells. Green punch was served with mints, nuts, and sausage balls from crystal appoint- ments. Miss Childers wore a navy skirt and white long-sleeved blouse with a shoulder cor- sage of daisies, gift from the hostesses. Present as special guests were Mrs. James A. Childers, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Darwin Earle, grand- mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Polly Fite of Lattimore, mother of the bridegroom- to-be, Mrs. Joann Fite of Lat- timore, sister-in-law of the bridegroom-to-be, and Mrs. Kevin Bridges, sister of the bride-elect. \ Miss Childers and Fite will be married May 17th at 3 p.m. in Dixon Presbyterian Church.
