RIGISTER Registers Wed In Spartanburg First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, S.C. was the setting Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m. for the wedding of Miss Cynthia Lynn Kiser of Inman, S.C. and Bobby D. Register of Savannah, Ga. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Elaine Cadenhead of In- man and Steven R. Kiser of Spartanburg and grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kiser of Kings Moun- tain and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Chandley of Asheville. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School and Coastal Training Institute in Pen- sacola, Fla., she attended the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg and is a legal assistant. Register is the son of Mrs. Ronald Baxley of Albany, Ga. He received a B.S. degree from the University of West Florida and is a biologist with the Army Corps of Engineers. Rev. Ronald Baxley and Rev. Randy Pettit officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Kimberly Ann Johnson of Asheville, cousin of the bride, attended as maid of honor. Karen Elizabeth Johnson and Lisa Renee Chandley of Asheville, cousins of the bride, served as bridesmaids with Mrs. Renee Hayes Den- ton of Spartanburg and Melissa Dawn Roberts of Pensacola. Dionne Starr Palmer of Albany, cousin of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Dale Reily of Houston, Texas served as best man. Brian Kiser of Inman, brother of the bride, and Frank Palmer of Albany, un- cle of the bridegroom ushered” with Billy Barker and Jim Ward of Pensacola. Heidi Kiser of Waco presid- ed at the register. A church recepation follow- ed the ceremony at which aunts of the bride assisted in serving refreshments. The newlyweds have returned from a wedding trip to Florida and are residing in Savannah, Ga. Cain were married Saturday, April 18th, at Lake Wylie, S.C. Jerri Pearce officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony. The bride, daughter of Bet- ty L. Howell of Kings Mour tain and the late Fred O. Howell, Sr., is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School. She is employed by Mauney Hosiery of Kings Mountain. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Cain of Kings Mountain, is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School. He is employed by Duke Power’s Catawba Nuclear Station. Reid Horton, brother of the Wylie bride, gave his sister in mar- riage. Tina Howell, sister of the bride, was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Debra Horton, sister of the bride; Becky Cain, Gilda Thorn- burg, and Crystal Bolin, all of Kings Mountain. John W. Cain was his son’s best man. Ushers were Rodney Cain, Perry Cham- pion, Jack Fox and Steve Noah, all of Kings Mountain. Jerri Pearce hosted the reception at her home at Lake Wylie. DAVID RAY ROBINSON Twyla Ann Whitworth Robinsons Wed Saturday At Shelby’s First Baptist Mr. and Mrs. David Ray Robinson, who were wed Saturday, are on a wedding cruise to Playa del Carmon, Cozumel, Mexico and Grand Cayman Islands and after- wards will be at home at 411 Pineview Drive. Miss Twyla Ann Whitworth became Mr. Robinson’s bride in a 5 p.m. all-white wedding in Shelby’s: First Baptist Church. Dr. Gene Watterson of- ficiated at the double-ring ceremony which included the lighting of the Unity Candle by the couple after the ex- change of vows. Lt. Colonel Ray Andrews of Laurens, S.C. was vocalist and sang ‘‘And On This Day’”’ before the ceremony and the benedictional ‘‘Lord’s Prayer’ accompanied by Jeri M. Ledford at the organ. All-white flowers and candelabras holding cathedral tapers enhanced the setting. The bride, given in mar- riage by her father, wore a formal gown of white bridal satin with heavily beaded lace embellishing the Sabrina neckline, front and back - bodice. The long cap sleeves had beaded lace inserts and a soft shirred midriff extended to a slightly dropped waist. Re-embroidered scalloped lace enhanced the full skirt and Chapel train. She carried a bouquet of silk white or- chids and pearl-trimmed- satin ribbon. : Mrs. Linda W. Tolleson of Greenville, S.C. was the bride’s matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Nan- cy Plaxico of Clinton, S.C., Miss Sissy Taylor of Laurens, Turn To Page 3-C ANGELA LYNN ALLEN Austin Lybrand, Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Jayne Marie to Bradley Gene Dowdy of Banner Elk. The bride-elect is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and will graduate from Appalachian State University in May with a B.S. in Housing and Interiors and a Minor in Art. She is the granddaughter of Marie Carpenter and the late W. James Carpenter; and Ferrie Lybrand and the late James A. Lybrand, both of Kings Mountain. The groom-elect, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gene Dowdy of Bristol, Tennessee, is a graduate of the University of Ten- nessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He received his Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is an associate with the David Patrick Moses Architéctural firm in Linville. A July 11th wedding is planned at Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain. JANICE MARIE SCOGGINS DAVID SCOTT SACHS ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED—MTr. and Mrs. Bobby N. Scoggins of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Janice Marie Scoggins, to David Scott Sachs. Janice, a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and UNC at Charlotte, is employed by Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. David, son of Richard and Sandra Sachs of Deerfield, Illinois, is a graduate of Deerfield High School and Duke University. He is employed by W.R. Bonsal Company of Charlotte. The couple plans a May 31 wedding. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED—Dr. and Mrs. Larry F. Allen of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela Lynn, to H. Carroll McCary II. Miss Allen graduated with honors from Kings Mountain Senior High School in 1984. She will graduate with a BS degree from Gardner-Webb College in August, 1987. She was the 1984 Cleveland County Junior Miss and was presented at the 1984 Western North Carolina Debutante Ball. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McCray Sr. of Monroe, North Carolina. He graduated in 1979 from Parkwood High School in Monroe. He received a BS degree from Gardner-Webb Col- lege in 1983, and received a MA degree from Appalachian State University in 1985. He is employed by Appalachian State University Athletic Department as an assistant football coach. The wedding is planned for July 18, First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.
