ANGEL ALLEN/ 7 SARAH COLE KM Women To Perform In G-W’s Spring Concert Two Kings Mountain residents, Sarah S. Cole and Angel Allen, will perform with the Gardner-Webb Col- lege/Community Orchestra in its Spring Concerto Con- cert on May 4. Unique because of its rural setting, the semi-professional orchestra is made up of musi- cians from Western North Carolina and South Carolina. The 50-piece orchestra is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra League. Ms. Cole is band director with the Kings Mountain District Schools. Allen, a Gardner-Webb student, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Larry F. Allen. The concert, to be held in the Dover Theatre on the Gardner-Webb campus, will begin at 8 p.m. on May 4. The public is invited to attend and admission is free. HAPPY THOUGHTS FOR PATIENTS—The fourth and fifth grade students in Mrs. Ann Scism’s East School class wanted to brighten Easter Sunday for patients at Kings Mountain Hospital. Orchestra To Perform At CC Tech Eise Witt and Small Fami- ly Orchestra of Atlanta will be appearing at Cleveland Technical College Thursday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The Small Family Or- chestra has delighted and in- - trigued audiences all over the Southeast and beyond with its ecletic blend and interna- tional and domestic acoustic . music using instruments as varied as the French horn, mandola, violin, clarinet, flute, guitar, and cello along with intricate vocal har- monies. On a single program you can hear a swinging New Orleans jazz tune followed by a French love song, and then a Southern mountain ballad followed by an unaccom- panied number in Russian. Traditional songs from around the world are jux- taposed with the new folk music that is being written in the South today. This event is free and open to the public.
