Mountaineer Dixie Boys Win Pair Mountaineer Restaurant’s 13-14 year old Dixie Boys baseball team won three of four games during the past week. The Mountaineer nine fell to Chapel Grove Number Two 9-2 Tuesday night as Chapel Grove’s Mark Morris hurled a three hitter. Brad Melton had two hits and Travis Ed- wards one for the KM team. Coach Jack Bell's team bounced back Wednesday to defeat Bessemer City Number One 16-9. David Jenkins was the winning pit- cher and Melton led the plate attack with 4-for-5. Jonathon Hicks and Tony Young had two hits each and Scottie Hopper, Souli Sourisord, Rus- ty Burgess, Donald Bell and Edwards added one each. Hopper’s was a home run. On Saturday, the KM team bombed Bessemer City Number Two 12-2 in a five- inning contest. Donald Bell hurled the win and fanned nine. Sourisord led the hitting with 2-for-4 and Bell, Melton, Hopper, Hicks, Jenkins and - Young had one hit each. The KM nine defeated Chapel Grove 11-3 Wednes- day, fell to McKenney Chevrolet of Belmont 12-1 Friday and edged Bessemer City 6-4 on the road Saturday. Kings Mountain is schedul- ed to host Bessemer City at 8 p.m. tonight at Davidson HURLS KM WIN - Todd McDaniel hurled a four-hitter and struck out 10 to lead Kings Mountain’s pre-majors Dixie Boys team to victory over Chapel Grove Wednesday. The KM nine hosts Bessemer City tonight at 8 p.m. at Davidson Park. Park and will play Sardis of Charlotte Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Bessemer City Invita- tional Tournament. Todd McDaniel hurled a four-hitter and struck out 10 in Wednesday’s victory over Chapel Grove. Paul Brannon and Daniel Honeycutt led the KM plate attack with two hits each, and McDaniel, Chip Cash, Jon Reid, Toby Deaton and Chris Henson added one hit each. Kings Mountain colelcted Pre-Majors Win Two Of Three only six hits in Friday’s loss to McKenney Chevrolet. Toby Deaton was the losing | pitcher. Cash, Deaton, Reid, Stuart Spires, Brannon and Chris Bullock had one hit apiece. Spires got the win in relief of Keith Allen in Saturday’s victory over Bessemer City. Bobby Brooks was the losing pitcher. Brannon and Reid led the KM hitting with two hits each and Henson and Bullock added one each.
