Ruppe Hosiery, Inc. will be closed the full week of the Fourth of July. Kings Plush will be closed the full week of the Fourth of July and vacation payments will be made. L&L Hosiery closed Friday night at 11 p.m. for vacations and reopens on July 6th at 7 a.m. Vacation payments will be made. No strictly patriotic ceremonies are planned in Kings Mountain on Saturday but recreational activities are planned day-long at the KM Community Center Events will begin with pool events at 10 a.m. for which participants can sign up at the poolside. Events will in- clude diving contest, watermelon carry, cannon ball, big splash, innertube race, penny dive, and alligator game. Ongoing events include a waterslide starting at 2 p.m. in front of the Community Center, fire truck rides for the kids and other rides for children. Five Wrecks Reported Five automobile accidents occurred in the city during the past week, according to Marty Blanton, secretary to Chief of Police Warren Goforth. Friday, a 1973 Toyoto operated by Bobby Gosnell, of Dallas, struck a 1973 Ford operated by Martin Greene of Route 2, Lawndale. Damages totaled $3100. Vincent Sullens, of 309 Somerset Dr., told police another car ran him off the road Saturday on Phifer Road and into the yards of 405 and 407 Phifer Road, doing $300 damage to the yards and $1,000 to his 1985 Pontiac. Cars operated by Philip Moss of 106 Center St. and An- drea Wilson of 111 N. Tracy St. collided on the entrance ramp of Highway 74 West at 161 doing $2,000 to Mrs. Wilson’s 1985 Olds and $500 to the Moss 1975 Datsun. A 1976 Mastercraft boat be- ing pulled out of Moss Lake by Dru Beam of Westfield Road, Shelby, on Saturday fell off the trailer after traveling about 50 feet, police said. Damages to the boat amounted to $250, police said. Monday on East Gold Stret a 1978 Chevrolet operated by Thomas Bumgardner, 5140 Midpines, struck a 1984 Toyoto operated by Roy J. Stinnett,Jr., | Route 2 Bessemer City, which was damaged $500.
