OBITUNRIES RUTH BELL WHITE Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Bell White, 69, of Route 3, Blacksburg,S.C., who died Thursday at home, were con- ducted Sunday at 3 p.m. from East Side Baptist Church of Blacksburg,S.C. of which she was a member. Rev. Marnese Hampton of- ficiated and interment was in Grover Cemetery. Mrs. White was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late June and Lillie ~ Adams Bell. She was wife of Charlie Henry White who sur- vives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard White of Blacksburg,S.C. and Roy White of Cordele,Ga.; four daughters, Barbara Bush and Gail Moss, both of Kings Mountain, Charlene Dover of Blacksburg and Susan Greene of Grover; three sisters, Pauline Eldridge of Harrisburg,Pa., Betty Jo Benton of Kings Mountain and Margaret Lamar of Henry, Tenn., nine grand- children and two great- grandchildren. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. BAXTER J. HILL Memorial services for Bax- ter Jennings Hill, 78, of 810 S. Main St., Salisbury, who died Sunday in Rowan Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from Mountain Rest Cemetery by Rev. Harwood Smith. A native of Rowan County, he was the son of the late William and Julia Cope Hill. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Eisen Hill of New York; one son, Baxter Hill, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Mrs. Nancy Williams of Burnette, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Steamer of Salisbury and Mrs. Nancy Kerns of Salisbury, formerly of Kings Mountain; and two grand- children. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. REV. EARL M. REDDING Funeral services for Rev. Earl Mason Redding, 70, of 3090 Robinwood Road, Gastonia, retired minister of Love Valley Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, were con- ducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Sanders, Rev. * Doug Adams, Rev. Robbie Moore and Rev. David McMahan officiated and in- terment was in Gaston Memorial Park. Mr. Redding, a native of Mecklenburg County, died Thursday in Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Jesse and Ada Black Redding and had also worked at Firestone Tex- tile Mills in:Gastonia. He was a member of Lowell Masonic Lodge 590. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Wages Redding; his stepmother, Mrs. Innas Red- ding of Gastonia; his daughter, Mrs. Joyce Van Dyke of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Maxton G. Redding and Winford Redding, both of Gastonia; two sisters, Mrs. Christine McIntyre of Charlotte and Mrs. Ila Bain of Columbia, S.C., and one granddaughter. Memorials may be made to Love Valley Baptist Church, Route 4, Box 326, Kings Mountain, N.C. 28086. RICHARD HOCKER Funeral services for Richard D. Hocker, 69, of 206 W.Gold St.,who died Monday in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home by Rev.J.C.Goare and Rev. Bob Collins, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A retired textile employee, he was a native of Fresno, ‘Calif. , husband of Vernie Chapman Hocker and son of the late Irvin and Elizabeth Doane Hocker. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Kings Mountain Crusade Activities For Youth Set Several activities for youth are planned during the up- coming Crusade. A March for Jesus will begin at 6:15 p.m. Sunday at the overhead bridge on King street and end at John Gam- ble Stadium on Phifer Road. Carroll Brackett of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Greg Smith of Kings Moun- tain Church of God are co- chairmen of arangements. Tuesday, Aug. 18, is Youth Night at the Crusade. Aftergllow for youth with Rick and Phylli Webb of Cherryville joining young Clyde Dupin people for a time of refreshments, fellowship and candlelight vigil. Bill Hughes of East Gold Wesleyan Church is chairman of ar- rangments. Saturday, Aug. 22, is also Youth Night at the Dupin Crusade.An afterglow for youth with Delano Wood of the famouw Dood Brothers racing family sharing and a sing a long with Bil Lynn of Oak View Baptist Church. PATTERSON Memorial services for Charles William Patterson, 65, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Kings Mountain, who died July 30th, were con- ducted Saturday from Can- trell Mausoleum in Spartan- burg, S.C. by his brother, Dr. Bob E. Patterson, of Waco, Texas. A native of Cleveland Coun- ty, he was the son of Mrs. Eva Sheppard Patterson and the late Dewitt Patterson. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Marilyn (Lyn) Cantrell Patterson; two sons, Charles (Pete) Pat- terson, Jr. of Columbia, Richard (Rickey) Patterson of Aiken, S.C., and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Pro- vienzueno of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Patterson of Greensboro, Hal Patterson of Winston Salem and Dr. Bob E. Patterson of Waco, Texas. He was a retired sales representative for Armour Packing Co. in the St. Petersburg district. He was a World War II veteran who served in the European Theatre of Operations for over three years. MARY RAMSEUR Mary Moore Ramseur, 73, of 9 E. 13Ist St., New York, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Monday. The family will be at the home of a sister, Wilma Rob- bins, in the Ebenezer com- munity.
