No Increase Projected In a continuing effort to contain healthcare cost, Kings Mountain Hospital has elected to project no increase in room rates for the 1987-1988 fiscal year. ; The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees ap- proved the budget at their regular meeting on August 18 The new budget calls for no increase in room rates but a four percent increase in other charges to offset the cost of supplies that have increased to the hospital. If also means a merit raise of four percent to the 192 employees, slightly higher than the inflationary cost of living increase. A private room will con- tinue to be priced at $152 per day, special care room will continue to be priced at $450 per day and a semi-private room will continue to be pric- ed at $150 per day (Kings Mountain Hospital has only four rooms licensed as semi- private rooms). Labor and delivery rates will increase from $382 to $399. The hospital had budgeted for a 40 patient per day cen- sus, a decrease from the 42 patient per day census from last year. The new budget calls for $10,818,000 in patient charges, an increase of $850,000 over last year. Medicare and Medicaid and Bad Debts (32%) con- tractual adjustments means that the hospital will receive only 68.21% of total charges.
