delivered her second grand-
child in her first home
delivery Wednesday morning
at 2 a.m. on her daughter-in-
law’s living room couch in
Gastonia.
Crystal Stewart and baby
Sierra Nicole are both doing
fine and have been discharg-
ed from Gaston Memorial
Hospita. The baby, the cou-
ple’s second child, weighed
nine pounds, 5Y2 ounces.
Mrs. Stewart, who has been
a nurse for 33 years, in-
cluding obstetrics, said she
had been on hand for many
deliveries but never at home.
Mrs. Stewart said she dial-
ed the emergency number
when Crystal Stewart’s labyr
pains began but a
thunderstorm struck, lines
were tied up and Crystal's
condition wouldn’t wait.
The whole family, in-
cluding proud papa Rick
Stewart, are thrilled with the
new addition to the family.

The baby weighed six
pounds, nine ounces.
Katherine is the grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Elmore Jr. of Gastonia
and Mr. and Mrs. James
Crawford of Kings Mountain.
She is great-granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elmore
Sr. and Marshall Dilling, all
of Gastonia, and the late Mrs.
Mable Augusta Beaudrot
Dilling and the late Mr. and
Mrs. Will Allen and Mr. and
