Jl Religious View poi hi By CLYDE DUP | It is time our public schools promote the teaching of tradi- tional values. We are raising a generation of children who cannot distinguish between right and wrong. There is no law that prevents public school teachers from teaching character. The clear intent of the secular humanist has been to create a value-free society. When our children have no understan- ding of right and wrong, they become frustrated and confus- ed. Since our once taught traditional values were based on God’s Word, the humanist way of teaching must go. Our value-free society has robbed one half of all girls of their virginity by the age of 17. Our sex education programs have given us one million pregnant teenagers each year. There is an epidemic of suicide among high school students. These sex education classes that do not teach moral values and provide contraceptives are destroying our youth. It is time our schools say what most parents say at home to their children. Our schools should teach children to say no to sex before mar- riage. When school boards and parents have had enough, then common sense and morality will return to the classroom. Christians need to pray for teachers and school officials. They often need encouragement from the church and good citizens. They are pressured by liberal educators and in- fluenced by secular humanism. Many times, they are unaware of their constitutional rights and fear undue peer pressure. City Board Promotes Two KM Policemen The Board employed Bob- by Harris in the Sanitation department, Dennis Bridges and Larry Staub as tem- porary employees during the leaf removal Oct. 5-Dec. 31, and Joe Littlejohn in the Water and Sewer depart- ment. Upon recommendation of City Clerk Marvin Chappell, the board adjusted salaries of seven women employees in the administrative offices at City Hall. Kings Mountain Women Report Harassing Calls Kings Mountain women have been the objects of harassing phone calls and communicating threats and filed complaints with the Kings Mountain Police Department. Making the complaints were Violet Yates, 419 Stroupe Alley; Helen Falls, 514 W. Mountain St., and Lin- da Jones, 1800 Alpine Drive. Mrs. Jones complained of students in her yard waiting for a school bus and using obscene language. Kings Mountain Police area also investigating these complaints: James Guyton, 707 Groves St., said a stray dog fell in his swimming pool, tore up the cover of the pool and liner. Dog Warden Linda Haynes was called to take the animal to the pound. Charlene Hamrick, 202 Benfield Road, said someone cut three tires on her car, do- ing $210 damage. Brian Cloninger, Battle Forest Apts., said someone took his 10 speed bicycle from his front porch. BOWLING! Allen Myers Rolls 413 In Duckpin Bowling Loop Allen Myers had the hot hand in Mixed Duckpin Bowl- ing League action Thursday night at Dilling Heating, roll- ing a 413 set to lead the Hopefuls to four wins over Ronnie’s. Myers had single games of 147, 113 and 153. Linda Neely added a 112 line and 316 set for the Hopefuls and Bill Myers led the losers with a 107 line and 315 set. In another match, Walt’s won three games from Bob- by’s. Three bowlers stopped the 300-set mark. Walt Monaco rolled a 155 line and 373 set, Jerome Grant added a 139 line and 373 set and Ken Bridges had a 141 line and 343 set. John Caveny led the joer with a 126 line and 343 set. John Dilling’s 406 Set Tops Tuesday Night Action John Dilling rolled a 144 line and 406 set to grab high scoring honors in Mixed Duckpin Bowling League ac- tion Tuesday at Dilling Heating. Despite the high score, Dill- ing’s team lost three of four games to Walter Mocanu. Mocanu led his team with a 154 line and 390 set T ib Ganlt added a 125-335 and Ethel Tignore had a 116-320. Dot Mobley had a 116 line and 337 set for Dilling’s team.
