Cass Ballenger Receives
1987 Leadership Award
Congressman Cass
Ballenger has been presented
the 1987 National Security
Leadership Award, the
highest award given by the
bi-partisan Congressional
Caucus on National Security.
The award was recently
presented by John M. Fisher,
chairman of the American
Security Council, on behalf of
the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, Reserve Officers
Association, American
Legion Auxiliary and the
General Federation of
Women’s Clubs.
Fisher said the award
recognizes the leading role
Ballenger has taken on a
wide variety of defense and
foreign policy issues. In addi-
tion, Ballenger received a
perfect 100 percent rating on
the American Security Coun-
cil’s National Security Voting
Index for the first session of
the 100th Congress.
“Cass Ballenter is just
completing his first session
on Capitol Hill, but it is
already obvious that he will
be a respected lawmaker for
many years to come. He has
certainly earned the respect
-and admiration of his col-
leagues, and we are especial-
ly grateful for his leadership
on the Aviation Subcommit-
tee of the Committee on
Public Works and Transpor-
tation,”’ Fisher said.
“Congressman Ballenger
clearly understands the real
and present dangers facing
our national security in-
terests, and we are proud to
have lawmaker of his caliber
and distinction as our award
recipient,” he said.
