Man Cut
In Squabble
At Landmark
A Kings Mountain man,
Furman Van Drake Thomp-
son was cut during a squab-
ble with another man at
Landmark Apartments Fri-
day, police said. No one has
been charged in the incident.
Police said it took 16 stitches
to close the wounds inflicted
by the knife.
Several other incidents
were reported to Police duri
the period Jan. 6-13.
Dean Smith, of 49 Julian
St., reported that someone
used a bolt cutter and remov-
ed locks from an outbuilding
at his residence, taking a
lawn mower, two chain saws,
and two skill saws valued at
$295.
Margaret Thomps Ussery,
of Route 1, Lawndale,
reported four hubcaps taken
from her 1988 Ford Mustang
in the parking lot of KM Knit.
North Elementary School
reported that vandals opened
a window in the lunch room
and entered the building.
Nothing was taken.
Champhong Sonvichit
reported that someone broke
into his 1979 Ford Van by
breaking out a window on the
passenger side of the vehicle.
Pam Crabtree Leigh,
Route 6, reported that hub-
caps were stolen from her
1978 Grand Prix parked at
Anvil Knit.
Cornwell Drug Store
To Accept Payments
Southern Bell and Cornwell
Drugs in Kings Mountain, to-
day announced the signing of
a contract for payment agent
services.

Bell's District Manager said
“Customers may resume
paying at Cornwell’s at 812
W. King Street in Kings
Mountain on January 27.
Payments will be accepted
Monday thru Friday from 9
am to 5 pm. An on-line pay-
ment processing system to
speed the processing and
reporting of customer
payments will be installed
prior to that date.”
A notice will be included in
telephone bills in February to
further inform Kings Moun-
tain customers of the
resumption of this service.

the contract for expansion of
Mauney Memorial Library.
The Board of Trustees
opened bids recently for the
construction project and let
the bids. Also bidding for the
job was Dixie Lumber Co. of
Cherryville.
