Leftover Christmas trees
were hauled by city crews to
Moss Lake during the
weekend and volunteers from
Cleveland County Bass Club,
assisted by the N.C. Wildlife
Commission, loaded them on
small boats and pontoons and
dumped them in brush piles
in various spots on the lake to
help cultivate the fish popula-
tion.
Ronnie C. Humphries and
Arnold Ledford, both of
Cleveland County Bass Club,
said that at many lakes in the
area the amoung of cover
available for fish is limited.
When the Bass Club found out
about all the left over
Christmas trees from the re-
cent holiday season, they con-
tacted the N.C. Wildlife Com-
mission and the trees were
put to good use Friday and
Saturday.
Workmen completed dum-
ping the last of the 400 trees in
Moss Lake Saturday after-
noon.
According to the local Bass
Club members the program
is funded through a federal
aid program. The money was
equipment and fuels. In addi-
tion to providing shade for
