Morgan St., Shelby, father of Sarah Carpenter of Grover and brother of Ira Dale of Kings Mountain, were con- ducted Friday at 3 p.m. from Charity Baptist Church of which he was a member, in- terment following in the church cemetery. Mr. Pack was a retired farmer and husband of the late Addie Dale Pack. Also surviving are a son, eight daughters, five sisters, 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Deal, 97, of Route 4, Park Grace Road, who died Friday morning, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from St. Mat- thew’s Lutheran Church of which she was a member. Rev. Harwood Smith of- ficiated and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Julius Monroe and Sally Capenter Deal and a retired textile employee. Surviving is a brother, Richard Garrett of San Fran- cisco, California. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. DAISEY BYERS Daisey Lee Adams Byers, 66, of Route 1, died Wednes- day morning at home. Arrangements will be an- nounced by Enloe Mortuary. C.C. SUMMITT Funeral services for Clem- mie C. Summitt, 83, of Route 4, who died Sunday in Kings Mountain Hospital, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Penley’s Chapel Methodist Church by Rev. Leonard Huf- fstetler and Rev. Mitchell Pruitt, interment following in Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Shelby. Mr. Summitt was a native of Kings Mountain, son of the late William Pinkney and Margaret Hinson Summitt. He was a retired farmer and textile worker. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Crosby Summitt; six sons, L.G. Whetstine, JK. Whetstine and Richard Whetstine, all of Kings Moun- tain, W.C. Summitt of Ker- shaw, Buford Summitt of Grover and Bruce Green of Charlotte; one daughter, Wilhelmina Sprouse of Kings Mountain; one brother, Lester Summitt of Kings Mountain; one sister, Dessie Cunningham of Kings Moun- tain; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Penley’s Chapel Church Building Fund, or to Cleveland County. Hospice, Shelby 28150. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. HATTIE ALLEN Funeral Services for Mrs. Hattie Norman Allen, 80, of Route 2 Blacksburg, S.C., who died Tuesday, will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. from Antioch Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Wayne Tuttle will of- ficiate and interment will be in Antioch cemetery. Mrs. Allen was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late Mack and Annie Cook Norman. She was a widow of David Hoyle Allen. Surviving are two sons, David Allen of Williston, S.C. and Larry Allen of Blacksburg, S.C., two daughters, Mrs. Doris Mec- Culloch of Greenville, Mrs. Joyce Wilson of Bracey,Va., three sisters, Mrs. Bert Westmoreland and Mrs. Dar- vin Allen, both of Grover, and Mrs, Dennis Wallace of Dallas; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home. Revival Scheduled In Grover Rev. Eugene Ridley will lead revival services at Allen Memorial Baptist Church, Long Branch Road, Grover, February 8-11 at 7:30 p.m. Ridley is serving as pastor of Long Leaf Baptist Church in Wilmington. Having been a full-time evangelist, he has preached many revivals, con- ferences and also has preach- ed in several foreign coun- tries. He has been on the North Carolina Pastor’s Con- ference program and the Southern Baptist Conventon Pastor’s Conference. Special singing will be presented each evening. The public is invited. Divorce, Remarriage Study Set Rev. Bob Collins, pastor of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, will be leading a special study on Divorce and Remarriage Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the church at 101 West Mountain Street. Rev. Collins has spent many years studying and researching the subject and has written a number of papers and articles on it. Purpose of Sunday’s study is to bring understanding and healing to those who have gone through divorce and remarriage, Rev. Collins said. : The public is invited to at- tend. APPEALS TO TRUCKERS—Preacher Dorman McKinney of Texas appeals to truckers entering and leaving Kings Mountain Truck Plaza on I-85 to help with the abortion issue Tues- day. McKinney recently took part in the anti-abortion march in Washington, D.C., and stopped in Kings Mountain for several days to deliver his message by way of signs which were displayed across from the truck stop. He said he made his appeal to travelers because appeals to church and government leaders fell on deaf ears. KM Southern Arts Society To Give $1,000 Scholarship The Southern Arts Society of Kings Mountain at its business meeting January 26 voted to give a $1,000 visual arts scholarship beginning this year. Scholarship committee members are Edie Bridges, Shirley Brutko, A.B. Snow and Selena Trott. Income from the sale of the art groups’ silk screened calendars will be used for this elk Stevens purpose. Months for the 1989 calendar were chosen by the arts. Artists contributing to the 1988 calendar were: cover, Johnsie M. Reavis; January, A.B. Snow; February, Edie Bridges; March, Mary Weir; April, Bonita Low; May, Bonnie Price; June, Selena Trott; July, Amber Tate; August, Margaret Dixon; September, Manley Hayes; October, Bar- bara Chaffee; November, Nancy Cloninger; December, Shirley Brutko. Several professional artists were reviewed and plans put in force to obtain them to hold workshops in Kings Moun- tain. The workshops are paid for by the art group and often only a small materials fee is required to take the course. Anyone interested in atten- ding the workshops, joining the group, or purchasing one of the calendars may contact A.B. Snow Studio.
