Note- National Teacher Day was observed in the KM District Schools on Monday. Connie Phifer, local presi- dent of NCAE, asked local students to write on the sub- ject, “My Teacher Is Special Because...” Here are their replies. My teacher taught me how to write my ABC’s and my numbers. That’s why she is special. Amy Black K-West L. McGill “What is Special about my Teacher’ : Once when I moved, there was a lady across the street. She lived with her family. When we got to know her well she told her name was Jodi McDaniel. Then the next year she picked me and some other kids to be in her class. I am in her class. Sometimes I go over there and Play. When I go to school she’s special because she is kind and I love her! She is the best teacher in the whole world. The end. Kimberly Belt Mrs. McDaniel Grade 2 West “What is Special about my Teacher” She has a blue car. She runs and fusses at Shane ball and she screams. She is funny. She calls ‘her car a hot racing car. She is nice and she is mean and gets mad. Keith Wood North School Ms. McCollum “What is Special about my Teacher” Ms. Lee is special because I love her. She is nice. She takes me outside. She takes me to the lunchroom. She is special because she has her own house and her own car. She acts right and she keeps us out of the road. She is too special. North School Ms. McCollum Reid Nicholette “What Is Special About My Teacher’ My teacher is Mrs. Scism. She is. an excellent teacher who makes school and learning fun. Mrs. Scism is not too strict. She gives us enough time to say a few words to a classmate, if we do not talk too much. Mrs. Scism is very organized. She has to get a lot of papers and books ready for every lesson, since she teaches a fourth and fifth grade combina- tion class. Most of her classes are taught at the same time. What I mean by this is that she teaches both grades at the same time. Mrs Scism has to keep up with what each grade is doing. Most of all, Mrs. Scism cares for us just as if we were her children. She tries to help you if you need help. She is very nice. She is the best teacher that I have ever had. Ross Thomas Grade 5 North Elementary School “What is Special About My Teacher” My teacher is Miss Phifer. I like her because she doesn’t play around. She’s strict. She makes sure our work gets finished. I learn a lot from her because she makes things interesting. She’s good at teaching math. I really go in for multiplication when she is teaching. Chris Jones Miss Phifer’s Third Grade North “What’s Special About My Teacher” What’s special about my teacher, Mrs. White, is that she tries to do her best to help us get a better education. If the class is having a pro- blem, we have a talk about what we can do to change the problem. Everyone gets to suggest a sollu- tion, and it usually works She lets us keep on trying because she knows that we can do it if we try hard enough. So if you don’t do something so well the first time, you can try again. Sometimes we get a special reward if we’ve worked real hard or done something real. We might get to play on the playground. We also have a thing where you try to get chips out one jar into the other. When we get the other jar filled up, we get popcorn and koolaid. Mrs. White always is doing something for us, teaching us, rewarding us. That's what's special about my teacher. Shelley Leigh Bethware “What is Special about my Teacher” Mrs. Allen is special because she is one of a kind. She never gets mad. She lets you do fun things like cross stitch, play games and alot of other things. She always helps you on any work you don’t understand. She also teaches the lesson in a fun way, and I can learn more that way. She’s also special because she’s a Christian. She does everything right. She is also special because she is nice and kind. I have always liked people nice and kind, and she’s one of them. This is why my teacher is special. Tad Dellinger Bethware “What's Special About My Teacher” My teacher is very unique. His name is Mr. Lemons. Everyone seems to like him, well at least some of the time. I guess everyone hates their teacher some. Mr. Lemons is special. He’s not real strict, but he’s not real lenient either. He will help you by yourself if you need help with something and talk to you about your problems. He will usually sit you by someone you like, but if you if talk he’ll have to move you. : Mr. Lemons is not your every day ordinary teacher. He's dif- ferent. He can seem to be mean, but he really isn’t. He's really a wonderful man and a good teacher too. Somtimes if you have a pro- blem, like someone is bugging you, or one of your friends is mad at you, he’ll talk to you and work everything out. He’ll make you feel better, and he probably feels better too. During C.A.J.s Mr. Lemons would let us talk at the end of the day so we could relax. Mr. Lemons is really special. Jennifer Senter Bethware “What Is Special About My Teacher” There isn’t one thing special about Mr. McDowell there’s alot of things. I'll name a few for you. Mr. McDowell lets you have fun while you work. There isn’t a day gone by that we haven’t done something fun. Sure we do more work in Mr. McDowell class than in other classes, but it’s worth it. Have you ever had a teacher you could tell anything? That’s how Mr. McDowell is. You can tell him anything and you’ll know it won’t be told by him to anyone. I know and everyone else in Mr. McDowell’s class know that he is the best teacher in the whole school. We can’t talk in the lun- chroom but when we get back to the room we have talking time. That’s just a few reasons Mr. McDowell is a special teacher. I always heard fourth grade was hard and it is, but the reason it is so hard is because Mr. McDowell knows that fifth grade is hard and the more work we do in here the better we are ready for fifth grade. You know I think that if they were to judge teachers Mr. McDowell would win a blue rib- |: bon. The more I think about it Mr. McDowell isn’t an ordinary teacher he is the best. How many teachers do you know that you wish you didn’t have to leave there class. I do, Mr. McDowell, When I get up in the morning I'm | happy to go to school. With Mr. McDowell as a teacher you would be also. By: Erin Anderson 4th Bethware “What is Special About My Teacher” My teacher, Mr. McDowell is great! He teaches fourth and fifth grade. He is very special. He is nice and a fun teacher. Mr, McDowell teaches us in a fun way. He makes us want to come to school. We learn new things in a different way than other children. Let’s say that we are in math class reviewing multiplica- tion. He let’s us have games to see who knows them. If fourth grade is having a health play fifth grade gets to be in it too. Mr. McDowell calls us the best class in the school, but he makes us that way. After lunch we get to write in a journal that we keep. Often he let’s us have talking time. In Mr. McDowell’s class we have class officers and pay dues. With the money we have parties, buy games, and things like that. Mr. McDowell calls us the best class in the school, but he is the best teacher in the world. You could not ask for a better teacher. Christy Walker 5th Bethware “What is Special about My Teacher” My teacher let’s us do special things like go out side on Friday’s and letting us make something for our mama’s for Turn To Page 21-A
