MARK EDWARD CHAMPION (Tina Michelle Forbes) Forbes-Champion Couple Exchange Vows Saturday Tina Michelle Forbes and Mark Edward Champion, both of Kings Mountain, exchanged their marriage vows June 11 at Patter- son Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Kim Faile, vocal soloist, presented a program of wedding music. The bride was given in mar- riage by her father, Darrell M. Forbes Sr. She chose Mrs. Laura Newman of Charlotte as her matron of honor and Miss Marg Lewis of Robbinsville as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerri Tate and Miss Son a Con- drey of Kings Mountain, and Stephanie Honored Stephanie Ann McManus, June 18, bride-elect of James F. Fortenberry, was honored with a bridal luncheon at 12 noon, June 11, at the home of Mrs. France A. Quinn, 1309 Garland Avenue, Gastonia. Mrs. Grances Collins of Gastonia, and her daughter, Miss™ Miss Lori Champion of Monroe. Don Champion of Kings Moun- tain was his son’s best man. Ushers were Jody Champion, Darrell M. Forbes Jr., Mike Dix- on, and Carl Burton, all of Kings Mountain. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell M. Forbes Sr. of Route 2, Kings Mountain. She is a 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1987 graduate of N.C. State Universi- ty, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, the N.C. State Alumni Association and the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Society. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Forbes Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pearson of Robbinsville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Champion of 1013 Brookwood Drive, Kings Moun- tain, and the late Linda Cham- pion. He is a 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1985 graduate of Gaston Col- lege. He is employed by Martin Marietta of Rock Hill, S.C. After the wedding, the bride’s Sandra Collins of Rowan County, assisted with hostess duties. Guests were served punch and spicy hot cheese balls upon ar- rival. Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will reside at 112 Robinson Drive, Kings Moun- tain. LORI ELIZABETH PRIVETTE (Bride-elect of Walter Rickert Hinnant) ENGAGED — Lori Elizabeth Privette and Walter Rickert “Rick” Hinnant, both of Winston-Salem, have announced their plans to be married on September 24 at North Kannapolis Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Lori is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Coy Clarence Privette of Kannapolis and is a 1979 graduate of A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis. She is a 1983 cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, where she was president of the Fidele Society and a member of Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. She received her Juris Doctor in 1987 from the Wake Forest University School of Law. She was a cum laude graduate and on the staff of Wake Forest Law Review, Order of Barrister, and a Moot Court Board member. Rick is the son of Mrs. Lawrence Eugene Hinnant of 1220 North Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain, and Lawrence Eugene ‘‘Josh’” Hinnant of 104 Juniper Street, Kings Mountain. He is a 1978 graduate of Gaston Day School in Gastonia and a 1979 graduate of Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. He is a 1983 graduate of Wake Forest University where he was vice president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He earned his Juris Doctor at Wake Forest University School of Law in 1988. He was on the editorial board of the Wake Forest Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board. Theron Feemster and Rev. Rebecca Bell heard the ex- change of wedding vows of Trina Marie Hamrick and Paul Osborne Adams. Long Branch First Baptist Church in Grover was the setting of the June 4, 4 p.m. ceremony. Music was provided by A. Llare Scott. He, along with Janice Stroud and Sylvia Wray, were the vocalists. 7 The bride was given in mar- riage by her father, Jake Hamrick, Jr. The bride chose her sister, Mrs. Gayla Crocker of Grover, as her matron of honor and Ms. Nannette Floyd of Gastonia as her maid of honor. Cherie is the daughter of William and Linda Lemaster of Route 3, Kings Mountain, and is a graduate of Burns High School. She attends Gaston College and is employed by Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Jack is the son of Mark and Martha Helms of Shelby and is a graduate of Burns High School. He is employed by Doran Textiles. LISA RENEE WRIGHT (Bride-Elect of Kenneth Wade Cash) ENGAGED — Mr. and Mrs. Herman D. Wright of Route 6, Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Renee Wright, to Kenneth Wade Cash, son of Sara G. Cash of Route 2, Bessemer City, and Kenneth E. Cash of Shelby. The bride-to-be is a 1984 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1986 graduate of Gaston College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. She was a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and received the Most Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award from Gaston in 1986. She attended Sacred Heart College from 1986-87 and will be a 1988 graduate of Gardner-Webb College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She was on the honor roll at Gardner-Webb. She is employed by the Shelby Police Department. Ms. Kathy Hamrick and Mrs. Lori Wellmon presided over the guest registers. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hamrick Jr. of Kings Mountain. She is a 1983 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and employed at Hair Ex- pressions, Shelby. The bridegroom is the son of Paul O. Holmes and the stepson of John Adams, both of Chicago, Illinois. He is a 1979 graduate of Fenger High School, Chicago, Il- linois. He is also a 1983 graduate of Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama. He is employed with Firestone, Gastonia. The parents of the bride hosted the reception at the Grover Rescue Squad Center in Grover. The couple will make their home in Kings Mountain.
