YOUR
RUBY
ALEXANDER
SELLING
“INVESTING”
IN THE SALE
Your home is probably the
largest single asset in your
personal portfolio. It really
matters how much ou get
when you sell. Would you be
willing to ‘‘invest’” some
money in improving the pro-
perty’s sales appeal — if you
could get back twice as
much? Experience shows -
that a few thousand dollars
put into fixing up the house
may come back double in a
ner sale price.
Fresh paint is the best in-
vestment of all. Choose a light
color that goes with
anybody’s furniture. If the
carpet’s shabby, replace it.
Take care of major and minor
repairs; the roof, the plumb-
ing, and the heating should be
in working order.
Vaio renovations are not
usual y necessary, though a
second bath and/or a modern
kitchen will improve the
salability of a home.
However, you probably won’t
et as high a return on this
ind of investment compared
with cosmetic repairs. Our
real estate pros can help you
choose the most worthwhile
improvements.
