The Safety Patrol includes 20 fourth and fifth graders who pro- mote safety on the school grounds each morning and after- noon. They were selected for their leadership ability, average or better grades, and exemplary behavior. ; The patrol is on duty from 7:45-8:10 a.m. and 2:30-3:00 p.m. In the morning, members patrol the front area to eliminate pro- blems of students unloading from cars on the street. The car unloading area is being patrolled to keep students orderly and safe as they unload at the ramp. The bus unloading area is also being monitored by the patrol. In the afternoons, the patrol helps monitor students waiting for car rides. “The Safety Patrol was set up to help keep our students safe. No left turns will be allow- ed at the school’s entrance for cars traveling west to east on Mountain Street. KM Man Injured In House Fire A Kings Mountain man, Leroy A. Perkins, was injured when his mother’s house caught on fire Friday night. Perkins was trying to get a fuel can out of the burning house when he was burned on the leg. He was treated at Kings Moun- tain Hosopital and released. According to Cleveland County } Fire Marshall Beau Lovelace, the fire started in the one story brick home on Route 4 when Mrs. Christine Perkins was refueling a kerosene heater in the den.
