Ernie Elkins, 43 of Lincolnton and Terry Brotherton, 42 of Denver have purchased the corporation which holds the lease to the track will present racing as usual at Cherokee in 1989, with action in the same five divisions - Late Model, LImited Modified, Thunder and Lightning, Bomber and Baby Bomber, plus a new Baby Sprint di- ViS101n. : The Baby Sprints will be sub- compact, four cylinder cars without body sheet metal, and with wings at- tached on the top. The two co-owners also operate "Racing News," a Charlotte based weekly auto racing tabloid newspaper covering short track rac- ing in 25 states plus national racing series such as NASCAR'S Winston Cup and Grand National series. "Racing News" now has a paid cir- culation of 22,000 and is distributed by 126 vendors at local speedways.
