VIRGINIA ALLEN
Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia
" Bennett Allen. 74, of 708 Alexander
St., who died Feb. 7 in Kings
Mountain Hospital, will be held
Thursday at 11 a.m. at Second
Baptist Church of which she was a
member.
Her pastor, Rev. Gene Land, will
officiate and interment will be in
Mountain Rest Cemetery.
A native of Kings Mountain, Mrs.
Allen was the daughter of the late
James Dilworth and Minnie Lee
Jones Bennett. She was widow of
James Dewey Allen.
Surviving are her son, James
Michael Allen of Kings Mountain;
her brother, Burton Allen of
Gastonia; her sisters, Rhoda Wise of
Kings Mountain and Helen Johnson
of Clinton, S. C.
The family will receive friends
Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at
Harris Funeral Home.
HERBERT THOMAS
Funeral services for Herbert
Luther Thomas, 70, of 420 E.
Georgia Ave., Bessemer City, who
died Feb. 6 at Kings Mountain
Hospital, were held Wednesday at 2
p.m. at Phillipi Baptist Church,
Dehlonega, Ga.
Rev. Robert Carter and Rev.
Varney Fields officiated and inter-
ment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thomas, a retired farmer, was
a Lumpkin County, Ga. native. He
was the son of the late James L.
Thomas and Ola Lee Thomas.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Ann
H. Thomas; son, Wayne Lee
Thomas of Kings Mountain; broth-
ers, Earnest Thomas of Gainesville,
Ga., Bert Thomas of Cleveland, Ga.,
Price Thomas of Dehlonega, Rufus
Thomas and Cline Thomas, both of
Kings Mountain; sister, Mrs. Mary
Mincey, Dehlonega, and two grand-
children.

Funeral services for T. D.
Anthony, 68, of 3008 Anthony Farm
Road, who died Monday at home,
were conducted Wednesday at 2
p.m. at Putnam Memorial Baptist
Church.
Rev. Larry Morris and Rev. Wray
Barrett officiated and interment was
in Patterson Springs Baptist Church
Cemetery.
A Cleveland County native, he
was the son of the late Author
Austin and Addie Rippy Anthony.
He was self-employed as a carpen-
ter.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma
Clark Anthony; a son, Keith

Louise McDaniel Burton, 73, of
Kings Mountain Convalescent
Center, were held Thursday at 11
a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Dr. Eric Faust, pastor of First
Presbyterian Church, officiated.
A Kings Mountain native, Mrs.
Burton died Tuesday, Jan. 31.
She was the daughter of the late
Whitney and Mary McDaniel of
Kings Mountain.

Funeral services for Vernie Irene
Davis, 69, of 614 S. Railroad Ave.,
who died Feb. 4 at Kings Mountain
Hospital,were held Monday at 11
a.m. at Harris Chapel.
Rev. Eugene Land officiated and
interment was in El Bethel United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
Surviving is her cousin, Lawrence
Pruitt of Kings Mountain.
Miss Davis was a Kings
Mountain native, daughter of the
late David and Alma Mullinax
Davis. She was a retired textile em-
ployee.
CHARLES SELLERS
Funeral services for Charles Lee
Sellers, 93, of Route 2, Cherryville,
who died Thursday, Feb. 2 at Kings
Mountain Hospital, were conducted
Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mary's Grove
United Methodist Church where he
was a member.
Rev. Larry Rowell and Rev.
Howard Kiser officiated and inter-
ment was in the church cemetery.
A Gaston County native, he was
the son of the late John A. and

Amanda Eaker Sellers and husband
of the late Mary Louise Gettis
Sellers. He was a self-employed
house carpenter.
Surviving are one son, Bobby Lee
Sellers of Bessemer City; three
brothers, Pink Sellers of Bessemer
City, Marshall Sellers of Cherryville
and Henry Sellers of Detroit; two
sisters, Mae Eaker of Kings
Mountain and Becky Gaddis of
Mount Holly; eight grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for William
Rhodes, 356, of 317 Ellis St., who
died Wednesday, Feb. 1 at home,
were conducted Saturday at 3 p.m.
at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Rev. C.A. Feemster officiated and
interment was in Kelly's Chapel
Cemetery.
A Cleveland County native, he
was the son of Marie Boyce Rhodes
of Kings Mountain and the late
Frank Rhodes. He was a graduate of
Kings Mountain High School and a
member of Mount Zion Baptist
Church.’ Surviving are two brothers,
Charles Rhodes of Kings Mountain
and Jerry Rhodes of New York City;
and two sisters, Janet Jones of
Grover and Ann Rogers of
Washington.

PAUL DEWAN BRIDGES
Funeral services for Paul Dewan
Bridges, 62, of Route 3, who died
Monday of an apparent heart attack,
were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at
Carpenter's Funeral Home Chapel in
Cherryville, interment following in
Kings Mountain's Patterson Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Ralph Queen officiated.
Mr. Bridges was a native of
Cleveland County, son of the late
Daniel E. and Macie Scism Bridges.
He was employed by Beam Grading
of Cherryville as a bulldozer opera-
tor.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary
Helen Matheson Bridges; sons,
Mike Bridges of Shelby, Richard T.
Bridges of Kings Mountain and
Mitchell Bridges of the home;
daughters, Mrs. Terry Walters of
Grover and Mrs. Linda Owens of
Kings Mountain; brother, J. P.
Bridges of Bessemer City; sisters,
Mrs. Beatrice Warlick of Kings
Mountain and Mrs. Patsy Carver of
Kansas City, Mo. and four grand-
