Canova Speak Wedding Vows
In Oak Ridge, Tennessee
First United Methodist Church
of Oak Ridge, Tennessee was the
setting Saturday, Feb. 18 for the
wedding of Melynn Westberry
Morris and Steve Killinger
Canova.
The Rev. William C. Mooney,
pastor of the church, officiated at
the double-ring ceremony.
Vance Reese was organist and
Sandra Boysen-Freese was soprano
soloist for the program of tradition-
al music.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a formal wedding
gown of ivory slipper satin and
Alencon lace designed along
princess lines and enhanced by
pearls and iridescents. Her finger-
tip veil of illusion was attached to a
tiara cap of Alencon lace, pearls
and iridescents and she carried a
bouquet of cymbidum orchids,
ivory roses, alstroemeria lilies,
stephanotis, ivy and baby's breath.
Lorie Morris of Silver Springs,
Md. was her sister's maid of honor
and bridesmaids were Judy Canova
of Columbia, S. C., sister of the
bridegroom, Beth Pulliam of
Tallahassee, Fla., Cheryl Butler,
cousin of the bride, of Gainesville,
Fla. and Julia Laing of Raleigh.
All the attendants wore sapphire
blue gowns with velvet bodices
and sleeves with satin skirts. They
carried bouquets of pixie carna-
tions, alstroemeria lilies, cushion
pompons and baby's breath. The
maid of honor’s bouquet was cen-
tered by a gardenia.
Best man for the bridegroom
was his father.
Tom Canova, the bridegroom's
brother, ushered with Tom Friar of
Knoxville, Tenn., Lee Shippy, of
Knoxville, Tenn., Scott Freese of
Tallahassee, Fla. and Steve
Ferguson of Charlotte.
The YWCA of Oak Ridge,
Tennessee was the setting for the
reception held after the ceremony
and hosted by the bride's parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Chester
Morris of Oak Ridge, Tennessee
are parents of the bride who is em-
ployed by the Department of
Health and Rehabilitation Services
with the State of Florida, currently
working as a Systems Project
Analyst with the Medicaid pro-
gram. She earned her degree in
management from Florida State
University in 1980. A member of
Toastmasters International, she has
earned her Competent Toastmaster
(CTM) and she currently serves as
an area governor in Tallahassee.
She is a member of Alpha Omicron
Pi sorority, John Wesley United
Methodist Church in Tallahassee,
Florida. Her grandmother, Mrs.
Hazel Morris resides in
Gainesville, Fla. She is also the
granddaughter of the late Dr. Alton
Chester Morris of Gainesville and
the late Mr. and Mrs. James W.
Scott of Orlando, Fla.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Levy Alvarez Canova of
Kings Mountain. He is employed
by the Olin Corporation and works
as a development engineer for their
St. Marks Operations in
Tallahassee, Florida. He received
- his BS degree in chemical engi-
neering from Auburn University in
1982 and his MS degree in chemi-
cal engineering from the
University of Florida in 1983. His
grandparents are Dr. and Mrs.
Gordon B. Killinger of Gainesville,
Fla. and Mrs. Mona Canova of
Starke, Florida . He is also the
grandson of the late Levy Alvarez
Canova of Starke.
The bridegroom's parents hosted
the rehearsal dinner on Feb. 17 at
Garden Plaza Hotel in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee.
The newlyweds have returned
from a wedding trip to Aspen,
Colorado and are residing at 2907
Cross Creek Circle, Tallahassee,
Florida.
