Goforth collected three hits and five runs batted in Wednesday to lead the Patriots to a 26-4 waltz past Lincolnton. Pats Whip Lincolnton, Shelby Kings Mountain Junior High's baseball team won two more games last week to run its record to 6-0 overall. Coach Tommy Wease's Patriots bombed Lincolnton = 26-4 Wednesday at Lincolnton and then blanked Shelby 2-0 Thursday at KM's Lancaster Field. David Jenkins, KM's fireballing righthander, gave up only one hit and struck out 14 in the victory over Shelby. He didn't walk a bat- ter. Shelby also got a strong pitching performance from Chris Dixon, who gave up only three hits and struck out two and walked two. Chris Rider, Mike Smith and Doug Bridges had a hit each for the Patriots. Kings Mountain scored the win- ning run in the second when Todd Pats KM closed out the scoring with five runs in the fourth. Todd Ware Ware reached base on an error, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly by Robbie Ruff. The Patriots closed out the scor- ing in the fifth when Rider singled, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored on an error. At Lincolnton Wednesday, Stephen Fisher went the route on the mound, scattering five hits and striking out four. He didn't walk a batter. Lincolnton got all of its hits off Fisher in the first inning, scoring four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Kings Mountain came back with 17 runs in the second inning. The Patriots got 11 hits during the in- ning and also took advantage of five bases on balls. KM added sev- en runs in the third and two in the fourth. led off with a single and scored on Ruff's double. Ware scored on Ricky Marr's triple and Marr scored on Fisher's single.
