Page 12/4 RANDY AND SANDY SHORT Randy And Sandy Celebrate Birthday Twins Randy and Sandy Short were two years old May 10. They enjoyed a birthday party at their home. Friends and relatives helped them celebrate. Their parents are Jackie and Martha Short and grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James M. Hicks Jr. of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mills Monroe Short. Perkins To Speak To Support Group Dr. Lee Perkins, Oncologist- Radiologist at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, will speak to the Kings Mountain Area Cancer Support Group on May 18. Dr. Perkins will share informa- tion about the hospital and the Oncology and Radiology Department, what facilities are available and what kinds of treat- ‘ments the Cleveland County hospi- tal can offer. She will inform the group as to what radiation does, and what patients and families might expect. She will be available for informal conversation as well as questions and answers. The Cancer Support Group meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Recreation Building at First Presbyterian Church on East King Street directly across from Family Dollar Store There is good parking behind and beside the church. ‘ The purpose of the group is to provide mutual support and en- couragement to cancer patients, their families, as well as any inter- ested persons. GOSPEL SINGING True Gospel Holiness Church, Second Street, Kings Mountain, will have a gospel singing Saturday at 7 p.m. Featured will be The Gospel Travelers from Pendleton, S.C., and the Rev. John Heath. Rev. Jerry Morrow, pastor, invites the public. KM Honor Roll Series To Begin The Herald is now taking nomi- nations for its second annual series of feature articles on old-timers in the area. The series, titled the "Old Timers Honor Roll" will begin in June and continue through the summer months. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, one must be at least 85 years old, or must have held the same job or been self employed for 40 years. Children ages four through 13 are invited to participate. The camp program includes su- pervised recreation, educational movies, swimming, field trips, li- brary programs, museum pro- grams, story hour, educational games, drama, table tennis, bad- minton, softball, kickball and bas- ketball. : June 14- Crowder's Mountain State Park; June 19 - First aid; June 19 - Drug education; June 21 - Discovery Place; June 23 - Dental Participants are grouped by age and grade and are supervised by a qualified staff. Schedule of activities and trips for the summer include: hygiene; June 28 - Charlotte Nature Museum; June 30 - Reed's Gold Mine; July 4 - Community center; July 5S - Schiele Museum and picnic at Lineberger Park; July 10 - Fire prevention; July 12 - Chimney Rock park; July 14 - Gaston County Museum; July 17 - hat day; July 19 - North Carolina Z00; July 21 - Cleveland County Museum; July 24 - Kate's Skating Rink; July 26 - Carowinds; July 28 - Show Biz Pizza; July 31 - Bicycle safety; August 2 - Tweetsie Railroad; August 4 - Super Hero Day at Kings Mountain Military Park. Only 500 have been built exclusively for the Carolinas. The camp will operate from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Early arrival super- vision will be provided from 6:30- 7:30 a.m. for an additional charge of $5 per week, per child. Lunch will be available for those who do not bring lunch for $3.50 per week. Lunch may be included in the cost of the camp. Cost of the camp is $25 per week for the first child and $10 for Drive the her each additional child in the same family. Camp fees must be paid in advance of the week of attendance. Each participant must have some type of insurance coverage to par- ticipate. Cost of insurance is $5.75.
