The two sites for the six-week's special, summer school for North Carolina students who have quali- fied in academics and after tryouts in specialized fields, are Salem College at Winston Salem and St. Andrew's Presbyterian College at Laurinburg. Chris Bridges, a sophomore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Bridges, will attend Governor's School West in Winston Salem and his area of concentration will be choral music. Joseph T. Champion, a junior, Best Of The Class son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Champion, ill also attend Salem College and his area of concentra- tion will be in choral music. Ashley Champion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Champion, will attend Governor's School West in Winston Salem and will study mathematics. Michael Jordan, a sophomore and son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jordan, will attend Governor's School East at Laurinburg and his area of concentration will be choral music. Charlene Hardin, a junior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hardin, will study instrumental Jeffery Muench And Deanna Reid Jeffery Muench Of KM One Of '89 Class's Best For the sixth year, WSOC-TYV, Channel 9 will honor North and South Carolina high school seniors in a series of 30 second public ser- vice announcements entitled "Best of the Class '89". Ninety four students from 22 counties were selected by their school's faculty for best exemplify- ing the spirit of the class of '89. Each student will be featured in a public service announcement on Channel 9 beginning May 15 through July 14, The psa was taped at the char- lotte Motor Speedway in April. A second taping session was done in the Channel 9 studios. Area students selected as the Best of the Class of '89 include Jeffery E. Muench, Kings Mountain Senior High; Sally Elmore, Bessemer City High School; Chris Minnix, Cherryville Junior-Senior High School; and Melissa Jackson, South Point High School. KMHS Class Of 1964 Reunion Set June 16-17 The Kings Mountain High School Class of 1964 will hold its 25th year reunion the weekend of June 16-17 at various locations. Class President Jim Medlin said he is getting a slow response from classmates living in the Kings Mountain area, and asks all per- sons who plan to attend to return their responses to him at Route 3, Box 440, Sylva, N.C. 28779. The class plans a tour of Central School and a sock hop in the Central gym on Friday, June 16. On Saturday, a picnic for all mem- bers of the families will be held at Lake Montonia, and on Saturday {© yn night the reunion social will be held at Kings Mountain Country Club. Medlin explained that in a recent letter to classmates, he did not in- clude his address on the letter, but instead put the address on the en- velope. "I'm afraid some class- mates may have thrown the enve- lope away and now do not know where to send their response,” he said. The Governor's Schools of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential progam for gifted and talented high school students in the nation.
