back to school through classes at the local plant. Seventeen employees
have received their diplomas this year since the plant began the back-to-school program on-site. Front
row, from left, are Jane Martin, Edna Craig and Rose Mitchell. Back row, from left, are Janice Shifflett,

hold down a job, too, and found the
going was hard. When she came to
work at Elizabeth Weaving several
months ago she was told about the
adult education classes and talked
with the plant manager.
"Go for it," Godbold told
Annette, who is an inspector on
the first shift. While Annette is
working in Grover and her hus-
band, Martin, is working in
Charlotte their son is cared for by
a friend, Peggy Lackey, at their
home in Cherryville.
Annette likes her job but she
wants to pursue a career as a hair
stylist. She enjoyed cosmetology as
a student at Kings Mountain Senior
High School.
"I really feel blessed in so many
ways," said Annette, who recalled
that when she was seven months
pregnant she was involved in a
wreck on Sugar Creek Road in
Charlotte and suffered a concus-
sion, resulting in some loss of
memory. "Luckily our baby was
unhurt and I just suffered a few
scars," she said.
The Cunninghams celebrated her
graduation on Friday when they cut
a birthday cake for their son's first
birthday.
