JOHN PHILLIP GREEN Cole-Green Mount Zion Baptist Church was the setting May 20 for the wedding of Lindsay Michelle Cole and John Phillip Green. The couple pledged vows of the double-ring ceremony before Rev. Billy D. Houze, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lawndale, and Rev. C. A. Feemster, minister of the church. Bob Stephens was organist for the program of nuptial music and vocal numbers were by Shandra Phillips and Scott Byers. Otis Cole Sr. gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a white taffeta gown designed with a jeweled neckline and long sleeves adorned with bugle beads and crystals. The full skirt extended into a cathedral train and featured a pouff peplum and a lace border at the hemline. The full length veil was attached to a band of crystals and pearls with a pouff of illusion. She carried a bouquet of summer flowers. Sheila McClain of Gastonia was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Karen Houze of Grover, Angela Bozeman of Kings Mountain, Lisa Conner of Gastonia, Robin Crawford of Kannapolis, Belinda Elmore of Charlotte, Lina Ijames of Hickory, Angela Setzer and Tracy Setzer, both of Gastonia, Valerie Shipp of Bessemer City, and Angela Wilson of Atlanta, Ga. Kenya Houze of Grover was junior bridesmaid and Shonda Cole of Kings Mountain was flower girl. All the attendants wore full length shrimp-colored gowns designed with jeweled necklines and long sleeves. The bodices were enhanced with lace and the full skirts featured pouff peplums. Brian Houze and Cherlyn Cole distributed programs. Terry McClain of Gastonia was best man. Junior usher was Marlon Byers of Charlotte and ushers were Alvin Alexander, John Jones, both of Charlotte, John Barnett, Marcus Byers, Otis Cole, Calvin Green, Noram Pressley, Dennis Wofford and Ernest Wray, all of Kings Mountain, and Earl Conner of Clover, S. C. Brandon Houze of Grover carried the rings. Cecelia Summers and Jane Wray kept the guest register. The wedding reception was held after the ceremony at Kings Mountain Depot. Mr. and Mrs. Targe Wofford assisted the bride's par- ents in entertaining and serving the wedding cake, punch and refresh- ments. The bride's sisters, Grace Setzer, Gladys Byers, Sheila McClain and Karen Houze hosted the rehearsal dinner May 19 at Mount Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Cole of Kings Mountain are parents of the bride who is the granddaughter of Mrs. Grace Lindsay. She attended Wingate College and is employed by AT&T Company. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Betty Wofford of Kings Mountain and grandson of Mrs. Alberta Green. He attended Gaston College and is employed by Wix Corporation in Gastonia. The newlyweds have returned from a wedding trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and are residing in Gastonia. MRS. R. C. CHRISTENBERRY Groves-Christenberry Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church in Gastonia was the set- ting for the May 20 wedding of Tennie Elizabeth Groves and Randall Scott Christenberry. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brandt Groves Jr. of Gastonia, is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School where she was a member of the marching band and color guard. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Doris McDaniel Plyler, former resident of Kings Mountain. She is employed by Dupont Company. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Christenberry of Gastonia, is also a graduate of Hunter Huss High School where he played football. He is employed by Dupont Co. Rev. C.B. Barr officiated at the 2 p.m. double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Barbara Mullinax was organist for the program of wedding mu- sic. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a tea length apricot gown, designed with high il- lusion neckline. The fitted bodice featured a Basque waistline embel- lished with beige Chantilly lace. The long, tapered sleeves were accent- ed with Venice lace and pearls. She wore a single strand of pearls. Her veil of silk illusion was attached to a Camelot cap covered with lace and pearls. Honor attendant was Mary Ann McManusa of Charlotte. She wore a tea- length apricot taffeta dress with a deep V in the back and large bows in the shoulder and groomsmen were Harry Brandt Groves III, Charles Groves, brothers of the bride, and Timmy Bryson, all of Gastonia. The bride's parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Plyler, hosted the reception after the wedding in the church fellowship hall. Presiding at the guest register was Kara Lammey.
