The Kings Mountain branch of
the Employment Security
Commission received 92 job open-
ings and filled 77 of them during
the month of May, according to
statistics released today by the
Employment Security Commission
of North Carolina. Sixty-seven in-
dividuals were placed.
For the year, Kings Mountain
has received 804 openings, filled
617 and placed 545 individuals in
employment.
In North Carolina, 12,819 peo-
ple found jobs through 78 job ser-
vice centers and six branch offices.
Employers listed 27,324 job open-
ings with the agency during May
and the ESC filled 16,928 of those
openings.
Ministers Seek
Food For Needy
Members of the Kings Mountain
Ministerial Association will be ac-
cepting donations of canned food
and dry goods for the association's
Food Bank at the annual July
Fourth Celebration at Jake Early
Memorial Park.
The all-day celebration is
planned for Tues., J uly 4.
The Ministerial Association will
have a booth set up in the park and
asks all persons attending the cele-
bration to bring items. The associa-
tion assists needy families in the
Kings Mountain School District
with food and other items.

was born Thursday, June 15, 1989
at Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
She weighed seven pounds, 12
ounces.
Christy's grandparents are Philip
and Pat Witherspoon and Joyce and
Ed Babb. Great-grandparents are
Eva and Plato Goforth, Eunice
Lovelace and Ann Babb, all of
Kings Mountain.
Yard Sales Set
At Love Center
The People That Love Center
will sponsor a yard sale June 30-
July 1 at the center on Piedmont
Avenue.
The sales will begin at 9 a.m.
each day and continue as long as
customers come.
Donations will be accepted at
the Love Center during hours
which will be posted on the door.
The Love Center collects toys,
food, clothing, money, and other
necessities for needy families in
the area.
