Davis From Page 1-A "We did not have busses for trans- portation for sports events but we were fortunate enough to have par- ents and school personnel use their cars to take us to games. I always managed to ride in Mr. Barnes' car as he always stopped to buy milk- shakes after the game-win or lose. Mr. Barnes gave me the opportuni- ty to work and grow in the educa- tional field. No one could ask for a better teacher or better training than he offered me. He loved chil- dren and that rubbed off on me," she said. Dr. Donald D. Hamrick Jr. of Warlick and hamrick Associates, 106 East Mountain St., Kings Mountain following his successful completion of a rigorous insurance education program sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. The announcement was made by Dr. William T. Hold. Society President, who conferred the desig- nation on Hamrick. The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors is a national non-profit organization dedicated to professional insurance educa- tion. Its continuing education pro- gram is conducted in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Currently, close to 12,500 agents and Insurance professionals throughout the country have re- ceived the CIC designation, and Dr. Hold said this number is ex- pected to increase significantly in 1989. Hamrick and other individuals who hold the CIC designation have demonstrated their professional competence through a combination of experience, formal training, and a series of comprehensive written examinations focusing on all major fields of insurance, insurance man- 2gement, and agency operation. “Hamrick, a Cleveland County - native and a graduate of Wake Forest University, joined Warlick and Hamrick Associates in 1978. He is married to the former Florrie Pulley and they have two children, Lindsay and Molley. Bill Davis. "Davis, too, began new programs and opened avenues for children and more construction programs," she said. For the last couple of years Davis has substituted in the schools. She said she is "aware of the new programs and positions that Dr. Bob McRae has initiated." Now under his guidance a big building program is underway. "No school system could ask for better Superintendents to adminis- ter the schools than these men, "said Davis who said the school system has come a long way. When Davis went to work the system had 81 employees and a budget of less than $100,000. Now, there are over 500 employees and the budget is $13 million. Wife of I. C. Davis, Mrs. Davis is past president of the National Association of Educational Office Personnel, N. C. Association of Educational Office Personnel, District II, NCAEOP and local NCAEOP. She was chairman of the NAEOP conference at UNC-G in 1971 and will chair the NAEOP conference in Winston Salem in 1991. She is president of NAEOP Retired Professionals, editor of the newsletter of NAEOP retired pro- fessionals, and a member of the N. C. Retired Governmental Employees Association. She is a member of First Baptist Church and serves as assistant treasurer and WMU Director. She was a team member last year of the Southern Baptist Mission to Brazil and is returning to Brazil this sum- mer. She is a Hospice volunteer, a member of the Kings Mountain Hospital Auxiliary and White Plains Shrinettes. The Davises are parents of one daughter, Jean Davis Allred.
