Page 2A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, August 3, 1989 Obituaries AUDLEY TIGNOR Funeral services for Audley Edward (Aud) Tignor, 69, of 1007 Sherwood Lane, who died Tuesday at Kings Mountain Hospital, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Frank Gordon will officiate and interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A native of Rogersville, Tenn., he was son of the late Emmett and Eliza Cody Tignor. He was a re- tired brick contractor. He was mar- ried to Ethel Huffstickler Tignor, who survives. Tignor was a past commander of American Legion Post 155 and a veteran of World War II. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Donald Tignor of Florence, S. C. and a brother, Gene Tignor of Kings Mountain. LELA B. CLARK Mrs. Lela Bonds Clark, 83, of 610 Sipes Street, Kings Mountain, died Saturday, July 29, 1989 at Royal Crest Health Care in Gastonia. A native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was the widow of Robert E. Clark and the daughter of the late W.M. and Celia Sharpton Bonds. She was a member of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church and was a retired clerk with Matthews Belk Stores in Gastonia. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Blanton of Concord; one brother, Joe V. Bonds of Lexington, W. Va.; one sister, Betty McCurley of Atlanta; two grand- children; and three great-grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shuford- Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney, S.C., by ‘the Rev. Clarence Hampton. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. OWENS GASTONIA - Dora Kates Dean Owens, 84, of 207 South King Street, died Saturday, July 29, 1989 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Honea Path, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Jim and Emma Kates and wife of the late Landrum Owens. She was a retired textile employee. She is survived by four sons, James Owens of Kings Mountain, James Dean of Waterloo, Iowa, and Palmer Fred of Gray, Ga.; four daughters, Betty Buchanan of Bessemer City, Gail Lanford of Columbia, S.C., Louise Swisher of Union Lake, Mich., and Marion Jackson of Gray, Ga.; 24 grandchil- dren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services were con- ducted by Rev. Joseph Thomas Monday at 3 p.m. at Sunnyside Baptist Church Cemetery in Bessemer City. WILLIAM A. HAMRICK JR. WACO - William Arthur Hamrick Jr., 61, of South Main Street, died Saturday, July 29, 1989 at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late William Arthur Sr. and Georgia Webb Hamrick. He was a retired mechan- ic from Lithium Corporation of America and a member of Waco Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Laurette Wall Hamrick of the home; two sons, Lee Arthur Hamrick of Kings Mountain and Keith Wall Hamrick of Waco; two daughters, Carol Ann Edwards of Charlotte and Gail Campbell of Gastonia; one sister, Oveda Lail of Gastonia; and four grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Royce Ballew and the Rev. Jerry Lail at 2 p.m. Monday at Waco Baptist Church. Burial was in Capernaum Cemetery. Buffalo Street, died Sunday, July 23, 1989 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Eula Roberts Whitworth Famble and the late Nathaniel Whitworth. He was self- employed. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, George Famble of Shelby; two sons, Daniel and Nolan Maurice Whitworth of Shelby; two brothers, , Samuel Whitworth of Kings Mountain and Yates Whitworth of Charlotte; six sisters, Virginia Black, Marie Ross, Margaret Dawkins, Essie Etchison, Bernice Mitchell and Ruth Hopper of Shelby; three stepsisters, Bertha Tolliver and Bernice Williams of Philadelphia and Mary Brisco of wens of Shelby, Perry Shelby; four stepbrothers, Henry | and Eddie Famble of Shelby, Raymond Famble of Greensboro and Bobby Famble of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. C.D. Montgomery Sunday, July 30, at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial was in Webb Memorial Lawns. LEMUEL OATES LOUISVILLE, Miss. - Lemuel L. Oates, 62, 302 Pond Avenue, died July 27, 1989. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James and Tearlie Johnson Oates. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Washington High School. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Oates; two sons, Maurice Logan of Kings Mountain and Lemuel Oates Jr. of Louisiana; a daughter, Dorothy Kimble of Kings Mountain; a brother, Summey Oates of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Geneva Crosby of Philadelphia, Beatrice Oates and Inez Fowler of Kings Mountain; and five grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. D.C. Wilson Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. LIZZIE N. DELLINGER Lizzie Nora Dellinger, 73, of Route 3, Kings Mountain, died July 29, 1989 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter o the late James and Annie Belle Mayes Dellinger. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Hugh Richardson Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. LUCILLE S. BLANTON Lucille Sarratt Blanton, 83, of 403 Walnut Street, Kings Mountain, died July 30, 1989 in Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ophelia Vinesett Sarratt. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Farshel Blanton of Kings Mountain and Alton Blanton of Taylorsville; = three daughters, Betty Brooks and Rachel Jolley of Boiling Springs and Elizabeth Carpenter of Kings Mountain; two brothers, J.L. Sarratt of Boiling Springs and Jack Blanton of Charlotte; a sister, Watola McCraw of Gaffney, S.C; 17 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. James Williams Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
