He was the son of Love and Addie Ledford Huss. Huss died Saturday. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MARSHALL A WALKER CRAMERTON - Marshall Alfred Walker, 61, of 310 Mayflower Street, died September 11, 1989, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Belmont, he was the son of the late John and Annie Helton Walker and was a plant en- gineer for Stowe-Pharr Mills. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Swayney Walker; a son, Stan Walker of Belmont; three daughters, Linda Cato of Gastonia, Elaine Lee of Kings Mountain and Ellen Edwards of Belmont; two stepsons, Ricky Alexander and Donnie Alexander of McAdenville; a stepdaughter, Debbie Hall of Gastonia; three brothers, Doug Walker, Julius Walker and Frank Walker, all of Gastonia; a sister, Colleen Smith of Dallas; and 18 grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia by the Rev. Billy Miller and the Rev. Y.C. Isaacs. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park, PEARL PADGETT Funeral services for Pearl Maddox Padgett, 80, of Route 9 Shelby, who died Sept. 8 in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lawndale. Rev. Billy Houze officiated and interment was in the church ceme- tery. “A native of Green County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Tom and Hattie Bell Maddox. She was married to the late Henry Padgett and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawndale, Heroines of Jericho, Saint Mearon Court No. 6, Order of the Eastern Star and Star Love Chapter No. 9 which she served as past Matron for several years. Surviving are six sons, Joseph Padgett of Iron Station, Robert Padgett of Seat Pleasant, Md., Albert Padgett of Landover, Md., McArthur Padgett of the home and James and Bobby Padgett of Shelby; 10 daughters, Elsie Huff of Washington, Hattie Gibson of Lana, Md.., Emma Karimu of Seat Pleasant, Annie Vinson of Landover, Shirley Harris of Passaic, N. J., Mary Maddox of Charlotte, Maude Griggs and Henrean Smith of Kings Mountain and Maggie Glover of Shelby; one brother, Eddie Maddox of Shelby; 63 grandchildren; 90 great-grand- children and three great-great grandchildren. Withrow's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. CHARLIE SHIREY Charlie Wayne Shirey, 27, of 3250 Midpines, died Friday, September 8, 1989 at Kings Mountain Hospital. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Hambright Wingard of Kings Mountain; stepfather, Douglas Wingard of Kings Mountain; one son, Damien Childers of Manning, S.C.; one daughter, Shellie Shirey of the home; two sisters, Myra Lambert of Earl and Linda Shirey of York, S.C.; two half brothers, Frankie Lambert and Douglas Wingard Jr. of Kings Mountain; and three step brothers, Timothy Shirey of Hendersonville and Dwayne and Allen Wilkie of Earl. Services were conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at True Gospel Holiness Church by the Rev. Jerry Morrow and the Rev. Claude Babb. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. ERNEST L. McNEAL Emest Lee McNeal, 37, of 1707 Northwoods Drive, Kings Mountain, died December 17, 1988, in Lake Murray, S.C. He was the son of Elizabeth McNeal of Belmont and Willie David McNeal of Bessemer City. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Pettis McNeal; two daugh- ters, Regina Pettis and Sharon McNeal of Kings Mountain; four sons, Ernest Lee McNeal Jr., Thomas B. McNeal, Parriece McNeal and Bryan K. McNeal, all of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Debra McNeal of Bessemer City Annette McNeal of Belmont and Jeanette Anderson of Charlotte; six brothers, Willie J. McNeal and Steven McNeal of Bessemer City, Kenneth Jarrett of Kings Mountain, Dennis McNeal and Kenneth McNeal of Stafford, Va., and Thomas McNeal of Charlotte; his grandmother, Daisy Smith of Bessemer City; and one grand- child. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John and Annie Lee McDaniel and was a former supervisor at Margrace Mill. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was al- so a charter member and former as- Restaurant & Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Gardner and the Rev. Sam Murphy. Burial was in the church cemetery.
