The "oil business" was in response to automobile customer demand and the fact that gasoline was hard to find in Cleveland County. In the early days, gasoline was transported in barrels City Sponsoring Barbecue City employees are sponsoring a United Way BBQ on Sept. 29 and 30 and serving each day will be from 11:00 a.m. until 7 p.m. Barbecue, slaw, baked beans, buns and iced tea will be served for a $5 donation to the Kings Mountain United Fund.
