Classes will be held on Monday through Friday from 8:40-9:40 a.m., Monday through Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and on Wood chips/mulch are available at no cost from the city Public Works Department as long as the supply lasts. Public Works Supt. Karl Moss said that citizens may receive au- thorization slips to pick up the wood chips from Cathy Maney at Aerobics Classes Scheduled Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4-5 p.m. The fee is $10 per month. Virginia Avenue Bessemer City Cancer Volunteers Are Recognized The Cleveland County Unit of the American Cancer Society at its Annual Volunteer Awards Banquet honored numerous Cleveland "County volunteers. Delegates who had attended the N.C. Division meeting presented seven awards received at the state meeting to the local volunteers. The awards included a national award to a local physician, Dr. Avery McMurry, a state award to a local volunteer, June Houlditch, three state awards for unit pro- grams, and two Honors Citations. The awards are as follows: National Division Award to Dr. Beam Enlists In AF Rodney D. Beam, son of Jerry and Geraldine Beam of Kings Mountain, recently enlisted in the Air Force's delayed enlistment pro- gram, according to T/Sgt. Martin, local AF recruiter. Beam, a 1988 graduate of Bessemer City High School, is scheduled for enlistment in the reg- ular Air Force in January. After graduating from the Air Force's six week basic training course at Lackland AFB, in San Antonio, Texas, he will receive technical training in his designated career area. Unit Quality of Life Awards for service to Candy McCall and Elsie to Unit for Shook, co-chairpersons of the Road to Recovery program. Unit Quality of Life Award for rehabilitation to June Houlditch for organizing and coordinating Reach to Recovery program in Cleveland County. Outstanding Service Award to Mr. and Mrs. Al Holland for form- ing the local larynegectomy sup- port troupe, Piedmont Lost Chords. Outstanding Service Award to Rev. Eric Faust and Fred Dixon for forming the Kings Mountain Support Group. Unit Crusade Award to Jeri Horn for outstanding achievement in local fund raising. Service pins were presented to Jerry Randall and Gerald Witherspoon, Greek Cancer Treatment Survey volunteers; and Sandy Alexander, office volunteer.
