CELEBRATE CENTRAL-This is the last year that Central School, above, will be occupied by 6th and 7th graders since the new Kings Mountain Middle School is to be open next fall. A com- Oldest Central Student Will Be Recognized Who is the oldest alumni of Central School? The planning committee for "Celebrate Central" is looking for that alumni to honor on April 7 at a fun event which celebrates the 84- year-old school's past. Cindy Alexander Wood, Central teacher and former student whose parents and grandparents went to Central School, said the communi- ty-wide celebration will be a suc- cess only if the whole community participates and brings memorabil- ia, school records, and funny sto- ries to share in the day of celebra- tion. Mrs. Wood said the celebration of Central's heritage is being held April 7 with open house from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by refreshments from 6 until 7 p.m. and a fun pro- gram from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorabilia will be displayed in the school gymnasium. There will also be slides depicting the early history of the school and short role plays. "It will be light and fun," she said. Members of Celebrate Central committee have scheduled a third planning meeting for Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. at Central School. Other members of the committee include Larry Wood, Steve Baker, Don Parker, Wanza Davis, Beverly Moffett, Glenda O'Shields, Charles and Ruby Alexander, Tommy Bennett and Billy King. This is the last year that Central School will be occupied by stu- dents since the 6th and 7th grade are moving to a new Middle School. "We want to get the word out that everyone is welcome to take part in this celebration,” said Mrs. Wood. Kings Mountain Realtors Attend State Convention Three Kings Mountain realtors attended the annual state conven- tion of the N.C. Realtors Association last weekend in Hilton Head, S. C. Attending the convention were Jerry King and Mrs. King, Ruby M. Alexander and Ann Moss. Mrs. Alexander said there was little evidence of damage from Hurricane Hugo in the Hilton Head Island area.
