Halloween was a fun time at Chestnut Ridge this year. A church-wide party planed and co- ordinated by Joanne Dellinger and Cindy King was given on Saturday night. Adults and children turned out in colorful costumes for the event. There were witches, pump- kins, goblins and clowns, but the life of the party was the preacher who came dressed as the character of "Ole Man from the Mountains" with his wife "Calamity Jane". The preacher played his part so well that he was not immediately recog- nizable and left some people not knowing what to say as he carried on a real "mountain type back- Chestnut Ridge By Myrle King woods conversation” with them. Hotdogs with all the trimmings were served and there were cake walks, fishing games, ball tossing games, and a "best costume" con- test in different age categories which, needless to say, the preach- er won in the 50-and-over category. STA EE Everyone had great fun and the at- tendance was good. Chestnut Ridge Volunteer Fire Department's annual haunted trail has gone very well this year. We aren't able to report on the income raised at this time but will try to fill you in more at our next writing. Brandon and Chaz King were hosts at a party given for their friends on Friday night. The cos- tume party was attended by nine tiny tots and their mothers and dads. The highlight of the party was when a large pumpkin came down the stairs and gave out pumpkin baskets filled with Halloween treats. Brand on and Vay Jeep Halloween Is Fun Time On Chestnut Ridge Chaz guests were, Mitchel and Lindsey Landers, Zackery Wilson, Andrea Brown, Casey Rucker, Brooke and Emily Paysour. A very "Happy Birthday" to Fred Bowen and Cracker Dellinger who are both one year more hand- some this past week! Congratulations are in order for Coleen Wright and her fiance Paul Carson who have announced their engagement to be married. Congratulations are also in order for two up and coming "big rig" truck drivers in our community. Brian Fite and Brian McKee both announce their graduation from truck driving school. PS (SEE | KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. Eagle um A great big "thank you" to our church members who worked so hard during our recent flooding problem at church. The volunteer group included Arthur and Willhelmina Sprouse, Paul Carson, Eddie Stewart, Phillip Bollinger, Cracker Dellinger, Tony Norris, * Etta Pruitt, Charles Fite, Randy and Delores Davis and, if I have missed anyone, a special "thank you" to you. Some of these mopped water which had flooded the church and some dug ditches to lay pipe to hopefully eliminate the problem in the future. It is wonderful to have people who are so willing to rally around when they are needed.
