vl BRENDA CALDWELL Brenda McDaniel Caldwell, 47, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday. She died at her home on Range Road. Her family said her last wish was to be present for son Chip's 22nd birthday. Minutes after the family had gathered around her bedside with a birthday cake she passed away, her sister, Pat said. "Brenda was the most courageous person I have ev- er known," she said. Mrs. Caldwell had been ill with cancer for two years. Her husband accompanied her to Greece in January for cancer treatments. Funeral services for Mrs. Caldwell will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church of which she was a mem- ber. Rev. Randy Gardner, Rev. Ed Sesson and Rev. Tracy Jessup will officiate and interment will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Cleveland County, she was the wife of DeWayne Caldwell whom she married March 16, 1963. She was daughter of Lollie Wells McDaniel of Kings Mountain and the late Floyd McDaniel. Also surviving are two sons, Chip Caldwell and Phillip Caldwell, both of the home; and two sisters, Mrs. Pat Haynes and Mrs. Kay Beason, both of Kings Mountain. She was a Sunday School teach- er and youth coordinator at Bethlehem Baptist Church, a precinct judge at Bethware precinct and a member of PEO Sisterhood. She had been a salesperson for leather goods for several years.
