Is Returning To School
: chemical lab at Lithium Corporation, I still felt that my
life came up short because I quit school. Then, three
years ago, I felt God's call to go into the ministry. To
fulfill my goal, I knew that I had to make changes and
sacrifices," he said.
He continues his story:
"Because of my age and pride, I was afraid I would-
n't fit in with the younger people. As time went by, my
fears increased. Because of my faith and desire to enter
the ministry, I met the challenge. My wife and grown
children supported and encouraged my decision.
"While recovering from a heart attack, I enrolled at
the College. When I first talked to the coordinator, I
‘was very tense but CCCs coring staff gave me self-as-
surance and immediately put:my fears to rest. They

center in Shelby and Kings Mountain Community
Center, a satellite site located close to my home. After
I receive my college degree at CCC, I'll complete my
ministry studies a Wake Forest and Duke.

The 1985 Farm Bill known as
the Food Security Act of 1985 re-
quires that farmers have an ap-
proved conservation plan on all
cropland they own or operate clas-
sified as highly erodible land
(HEL). This plan must be devel-
oped and approved by December
31, 1989 in order to be eligible for
USDA program benefits. The ben-
efits include support programs on
wheat and cotton, FMHA loans,
crop insurance, grain storage loans,
disaster payments and CRP pay-
ments.
